Default 1.9 scale single seater

my inspiration:

MY build:

I blew the pictures I had of the buggy up until the tubing size matched, according to the conversions 1.5-1.75 tubing = 3/16 in 1/10 scale. What made the buggy best for an rc version is the fact that the 1:1 version is about as spartan as you can get, no dash nothing you dont need, just a bar and some gauges.
I stil have a bit of work to do to finish the brazing then its off to the wire wheel and the powder coating. At this point I am undecided what axles go in it but, Im thinking it will get an r2d and 55t.
For rear shocks Im planning WK's with internal springs set up in a semi droop fashion, havent figure out the fronts.

I like the subtle angles in the chassis- I bet that's a nightmare to work out, but so much better than a square frame. I bet the 1:1 is a right laugh to drive!

those angles were a PAIN!!! I deviated a little from the 1:1 in that I added a few extra angles... The rear shock mounts are being the worts..I may have to mig them then clean the up with braze.

I'd use solid rod for those shock mounts. Tube just can't take the sharp bends.

Been a little while since I updated...

Picked up a mill so I have a precision made skid plate
I was planning to use a stock axial trans or the WK trans but I had an r2d just laying around...

with the small tires I decided that BTA was a must so after 4 tries and who knows how many hrs at the mill I finally came up with something that works. It kept binding and I couldnt figure out why... its actually hitting the axles, so I guess I am getting full steer out of it.

The powder coating oven took a crap in the middle of doing this chassis, so thats why the powder looks kind of funky. I plan to redo it in the future. I really wish I could have come up with a more scale looking steering.

I just drill and tap the brakeline. I find it works better for me than mounts.

some action shots... The truck works GREAT!!!! I spent about 2hrs driving it, several 6' rolls. The tires suck and the hex's stripped but until someone else comes out with some tall 1.9's Im stuck.

Trail Doctor Xl's are as tall but don't look as agressive. Performance is much better though.

thanks for the compliment! I have no idea which compound those are, I picked them up at the LHS when it went out of business and have had them sitting for prolly 6 months.

Ill try to get the body panels done but this build realy got me going on the BTA so I have spent countless hrs sitting in front of the mill but, its paid off. The final version of the BTA is done and sent to the cutter for a quote. Now I can get back to this truck.
