Default 4 door jeep....only 8 1/4" WB

Finally starting my first scale build. I decided to take one of my MRC's and turn it into a scaler. I know most people went a little larger or used bigger bodies, but I wanted to use a smaller body. I got the body off a fellow RCC member a couple months ago.

8 1/4" WB
MRC axles and shocks
chopped L-trail chassis
will use MRC rims/tires for now
Probably run a Tekin B1R (hopefully in a waterproof case).

Onto the pics...........

Some pics of the body.

The body has a full interior. I will get to detailing it later...much later, once the build is about finished.

Pic showing how short the WB will be....about 8 1/4". It will be pretty small, but hopefully it turns out well.

I ended up buying an L-trail chassis, not realizing how big it was. So I decided to cut the chassis in the middle and overlap the sides to reduce the WB and overall length to something a little closer to what I wanted.

Original chassis.

Cutting chassis in the middle to overlap the pieces.

Since I wanted a roughly 8 1/4" WB, I wanted the shock mounts to be at about 7 3/4" - 8". The reason for going shorter than the WB is that the shocks mount on the back of the front axle and at the front of the back axle.

Here are a couple of pics showing how the front and back will line up. If the shock hoop mounts are a little tall, I will cut off the top row of mounts positions. I will cut off the extra length of the chassis in the front and rear as needed.

And finally a pic showing how much of the interior will have to be trimmed to mount the body lower. The motor plate and spur gear will come into the interior of the body. Luckily, they will go thru the floor behind the drivers seat on the floor of the drivers side back seat.....about as good as I can hope for.

if there is room in the thickness fo the seat back, you may be able to put the spur inside the front seatback. If you need it a little wider, make your own seatback that is a little thicker. it may look better than poking into the rear floor.

It is not a New Bright body. Not sure what brand it is, but it came from Radio Shack.
