Picked this up on ebay last weekend, it was built by Wyoming on Tamiya club http://tamiyaclub.com/showroom.asp?id=15376 and he did an awesome job. I have a few small plans for it. I already added some Kyosho 4runner center caps and I have full set of Stefan/scaleoffroad emblems for it. After that I just want to chassis mount the servo and get some RC4WD dual coil over shocks for it and bind the DX3R to it. Here a couple of quick pics Specs: Axial AX-10 axles The Crawler Store X-Trail scale chassis RC4WD Rock stompers Hummer wheels modded into steelies 35 turn lathe Futaba digital servo HPI front bumper with wild willy winch Custom FJ-45 body made from a Proline FJ40 and rear bed from styrene Axial trans velcro body mounts tlt shocks Scollins interior Last edited by 1BadJeepBruiser; 11-22-2008 at 08:51 PM. |

Are you gonna keep these wheels, or run something else..? I think a nice set of aluminum beadlocks would look SICK on this rig..!!!

DJ, dont worry no major changes. The shocks need to be changed, they are tlts and you know how they are...plus it has bad torque twist and itll be a pain to try to dial that out with these. with the RC4WDs itll be easy and they are nice and smooth.

On the way home from my dads house I stopped by the harbor and to scope out a possible wheeling area for Eddievedder and I. I was working down there doing code enforcement and thought it might have a few cool spots to wheel. I had swapped the DX3R into the FJ this morning and re peaked the pack so it was ready to rock. Some good lines at the top by the walk way. headed down onto the sand for a poser or 2 The 35 turn rips some good wheel speed The beach itself had some cool rocks I only stayed maybe 25 minutes, it was so damn cold I could barely hold onto my DX3R and my hands were red and killing me so I packed it in...I cant wait for some warmer weather...guess its back to building for now. Thanks for looking -Mike

Been working on a little bit of everything here. One thing that had to go was the tlt shocks...they just suck unless they are turned down and looking like a cool scale shocks. So after x-mas I hit up Corey @ RPP Hobby and got some RC4WD 90mm scale coil over shocks. These are probably my favorite scale shock, they look great and work nicely IMO. I went with 90s cause I wanted to lower the stance some. I think it looks better sitting lower now. I also was cruising the vendors area and noticed Troy's NBL 2.0 series of wheels. I love the weathered modded hummer wheels on this but I really wanted to run the new 1.9 flat irons, so I hit troy up and got some of his badass "Utility" wheels. All they need now is some weathering and some badass hubs to hide the wheel nuts. Still need to get the scale off road emblems on, light the head lights, and I am thinking of swapping the axials for some TLTs for a nice narrow track width. more to come |

Great score Mike and nice job on it. I ALMOST bid on that thing and then changed my mind, lol was in the middle of another deal. Glad someone who could do it some justice got it. I just mounted up my 1.9" Flat's that came in the mail today (Thanks Corey/RPP). MAN, can you say soft, lol. Deffinately gotta use the right foam for those things. Can have that running on 2 psi look, lol. Nice wheel/tire combo for that rig, deffinately can't wait to see them weathered.

Damn, and I'm still jealous of the Toyota Flat Bed you scored months ago The body work and bed look great and I'm digging what you've done so far. I definitely agree with swapping out the axles for TLTs I have pictures of an FJ45 I saw in July, I took one from pretty much every angle. If you need them for reference or anything just met me know and I'll post up a link. I've been in love with them ever since. Last edited by 701 Technique; 01-08-2009 at 11:03 PM. |
