| Rockin' the Datsun
this is Swampthing. It is a Datsun 720 on an xc chassis with leaf springs in the rear. I am running an unknown brushless connected to a mamba max on 3s lipo. It is currently running mudslingers on Hummer wheels. I just got it back yesterday from Sniper who hooked me up with the exo and front bumper. Today, I drove it like a rental. What truck? videos will be on their way. Last edited by hairba11; 12-24-2008 at 02:22 PM. |

First the videos Now the setup Sprung under. Hilift mounts, bruiser shackles, hilift springs, chino'd main leaf, and small leaf. after running it a couple of times I'm thinking about putting the long leaf on top of the pack to help with wrap. and shocks. I need shocks. the back end is a little bouncy. |

it is a blast to drive. as I was washing it up this afternoon, I noticed a little too much slop in the rear end. one more thing to take apart and clean up/fix. |

the slop/crunching came from the rear end alright, the three screws that hold the diff togeter had backed out and the diff halves were spinning against eachother. there was enough slop in the gearcase for the pinion to slip past the spur. I pulled the plastic bushings out, put in brass ones (too much mud and water for bearings), added another bushing as a shim for the diff, added 5mm washers behind the E-clips on the axle ends to get rid of the slop there. everything is shimmed and greased and turns nicely now. I also redid the leaf packs. I redefined the arch of the original springs because they had been tweaked a little, then put the largest leaf without eyes on top of it to help with wrap. I put the medium on top of it too. The bounce will still be the single leaf with eyes, but the torque will *hopefully* be absorbed by the additional leaves. |

thats hilarious! Love the mud camoflauge, lol... great little truck. Thats the Mauri Big Bear body...perfect candidate for the losi mini axles....looks good, but it goes without saying that it would look better on 1.5's, lol... |

i didn't have the antenna up on the transmitter enough, and it got out of range and hit the curb. oops. it was hilarious though. kids screaming and everything. in the city the poor kids are actually excited about sparklers. SPARKLERS for cryin' out loud. they stopped being cool when I was 5, now the 5 year olds are afraid of them. Makes me wonder about the future of the country a little. |
