I've been working on this for a few weeks now, off and on. Just need to get electronics in it. Specs: Chassis: Handmade from 3/16" solid aluminum - will probably redo it with 1/2" square steel tube in order to better fit everything. Axles: TLT, nothing special added to them yet. Transmission: Axial Tires: Tamiya Rock Crushers Wheels: Losi Mini Crawlers (black chrome)-may switch for the HPI stock car rims since they tuck in a bit better.. Body: New Bright Jeep Rubicon - Walmart $20 edition The one thing I didnt count on is the lack of space under the body in rear. Thats where i like to put the electronics, but this time it may have to go under the hood. The battery will end up velcro'd to the underside of the hood. Luckily, this thing wont be competing. Let me know what you think and any suggestions you may have are more than welcome. |

| Update!
Finally changed the chassis out. Used 1/2" steel tube bent then halved. While taking the pictures i noticed the front of the chassis was twisted, so repairs are in order. Also added lights to the body and a top made of styrene. More to come eventually, but its mostly done. Let me know what you think. |

| First run
[LEFT]Took a few pics of her first run out doors. Few adjustments need to be made but otherwise she crawls fairly well. For those who have used this body, did you have a hell of time getting the 4 link setup? I wanted to make it as good a performer as possible but just couldnt get the upper and lower links setup like I wanted. I know there are still a few options but its more work than I am willing to do right now. I am getting ready to start a new build on the Newbright 1/8 4 door jeep and after this last build I have a lot more styrene and metal working experience, so I cant wait to get started. As far as this build goes, I still need to accessorize it and get the antenna mounted properly, probably as a whip. Rear flex is almost spot on: Front flex is a bit stiff, but almost there: Thought this was kinda of a cool shot: Quick vid of it going over my backyard course (very short), and yes, I got high sided at the end, I suck at driving. |
