Default The Scale Shop Chassis Build Off Jeep Wrangler YJ

OK so over on scale4x4.com there is a Wrangler build off going on. I figured I would post the progress of my build off Wrangler here as well. Lots of great competition so there will be some sweet Jeeps being built by the march 18th deadline. The blood is literally being shed (Wild Trial)
There is a pretty sweet "pot" of goodies donated by each participant that the winner will claim!!! This will be a lot of fun!

Here is what I am going to attempt.

The Scale Shop YJ chassis (perfect for this build)
Original Tamiya YJ body
T rex 60's
Leafed in the front
Custom 4 link in the rear
and some other stuff to be revealed later.

Starting with this OLD body

May or may not hack it but that will be revealed later

The Scale Shop Chassis (PLUG) with leafs mocked

Greasin' the gears T rex style

Just working on the leaf springs and axle set up.

Just fit testing so the shackles have no spacers yet!

Stripped it all off and painted the chassis flat black, then mounted up the front axle and mocked the body!

That is it for now!!

That's going to look sweet. Is it going to be for sale when done?

Gentleman, THANK YOU for the kind words.

rocksrock- as for it being for sale, most likely not. I dont sell many of my rigs.

But you never know...

A few more pics not much progress...

Test fit the front dampers. They are pretty sweet and seem to be a perfect fit! the green spacers are just for test fit and will be replaced with black!
Shocks are from an OLD Kyosho Optima buggy.

Thanks guys!!

OK so I got the rear 4 link all set. Just a test fit again since I have a new 4 link mount that I will be using so I have to take it apart to install that. Just waiting to "powder coat" it. Should look more scale than RC4WD's servo/4link mount since there is no servo there...

Going to be using an R2 tranny.

4 Link set up. Soon to have new 4 link mount!

I LOVE the look of these axles!!!

About the ride height that I am shooting for, just with slightly larger tires of course!

Again, shocks and springs are just a test fit. I think That I am going to go with internal springs for the rear. I'll have to play with it a bit more, I just wanted to get the 4 link set up to get the wheelbase right.

Got some more work done with the chassis setup. I am using original Bruiser drive shafts. A Kawada 50 turn motor powers this YJ

Got the steering set up just right too. This was a pain in the arse but it is good to go now.

On the hood is next to be installed! My rear link mount!!! It is sweet

I promised myself that I would never buy a 3racing winch out of respect for Stephan and his hard work at Scaleoffroad, but my brother bought me one for Christmas so I can not let it go to waste!

Thanks STANG

OK well I installed the custom rear link mount. Looks pretty sweet. I also decided against the internal springs for the rear> I like the look of the coilovers so I just changed out the springs. The compressed white ones weren't doing it for me. I think these fit the part much better with the 4 linked rear end.

Oh and then THIS happened!!!

Nice spare hard top...
