Default Rubicon scaler

Here is the rig I am working on for our upcoming comp in May.

TLT axles
FXR w/cc bec
1350 mah 2s Lipo
Generic servo, a little over 200oz at 7v
Hand made chassis using 3/8 solid square steel, yes its heavy as all hell, but im hoping that it helps keep the cog down a bit.
Either TQ3 or MRC radio system, probably MRC since i dont have a winch and cant use a dig.
MRC fake beadlocks with Tamiya rock crushers
Working Headlights and taillights (always on)

Not much flex yet, plan on trying droop setup..

Body needs to be cleaned and re painted...

More scale stuff to come, stay tuned.
Tell me what you think...

I know, I need to move the tranny forward a bit or cut more out of the interior, which is not what I want to do.

Small update, I got the body down lower, looks much better i think. May still be a tad high, but I wanted a spot below the rear seat for electronics and didnt want to cut out any more interior than i had to. Also, I still have a front and rear bumper to add, so that will bring the look down a bit.

So here is the new chassis. I have actually shortened the front of it a bit since these pics so that the body lays down level. Still have a few things to do like die the white plastic pieces, repaint the body and new rear bed mount the steering servo and electronics, front bumper (need ideas) and sleeve the links. Im still debating whether or not to replace the plastic roll cage for one made of brakeline, I know it would look better, but time is running out and I dont know how I would mount it. I also picked up a driver. Im not sure if I will keep him but the size is darn close to perfect. I will have to cut the legs though to make him fit.

Better flex than before, should be just about right:

And the driver, its the T-600 from Terminator, be kind:

I will get more pics later, the camera is charging.

I agree, the stance is better now. Small update, painted the chassis and got the electronics mounted. The ESC and rx will actualy sit a little lower, they are now sitting on what is the body mount. I also cut the drivers legs so that he will fit, hated to do it but had no choice. I also had to trim the seat down, which means i need to remount it some how. Also got the body torn down and sanded for fresh paint.

Little update:
Got the front bumber 50% complete, still need to add a hoop to it, picture explains it. I also need to clean and paint the front and rear bumpers along with cutting part of the top bar out of the rear bumber so that I can fit a ball there for pulling trailers. Overall I am really pleased with both bumpers. The front took me about an hour to make, another 1hr to clean and prep for paint, then paint, will be quick. Still trying to figure out how to mount them, but it looks like i cut the chassis just perfect so they should be able to mount to the ends of the chassis with little fuss, and still be very strong. As always, your comments are welcome.

You can see the fenders have been repainted flat black, much better now.

I may try to add a little more style to it, but here are plans for now:

good start on the bumpers. imo though the tubing for the rear looks too big for the body. unless your going for that look?

I kind of felt the same about the rear bumper, I hope that when cut out the top portion it will make the whole piece look a bit smaller. If not, I may just make another one from 3/16 '' tube rather than 1/4" tube. Either way, i think the plan is on track, and bumber should nicely fit the faux pro-line winch i got for it. Still need to make fishing pools, maybe a cat, and who knows whatelese comes to mind.

Thank you all for the kind words. Here is little more progress:
Painted the body/fenders/interior (still need to go in redo the details, like door handles, dash....
FInished the construction of the front bumper(needs to be cleaned, mounted ? then painted...
Added a few accessories, some made, some purchased, still have to finish the fire extinguisher I made a while back.
Here it sits with a few of the scale items..the rope on the front is in a temp location i think, not sure where to put it. ALso need opinions on whether or not I should mount a spare tire, if so, where, off the rear bumper like most, or simpler, like in the bed standing up...

The body already sits on the chassis at the rear. Its a home made chassis, so not much adjusting left to do on that. Unless, I make another chassis, but thats not gonna happen, I am happy with this one. I also wanted to have a little more flex than the first one so the shocks arent being shortened at this time. Overall, Im really happy with it. I will get video up this weekend of its first test ride.

Got all the wiring done. With all the metal and limited space to mount everything I had to use my Losi TX/RX. I have to say that it works really well with the FXR. I think I have it all dialed in but tomorrow I will take out back and test it out. I will try to get video for anyone who is interested.

I still have to mount the front and rear bumpers, make a roll cage to replace the plastic one and mount the scale items.

Let me know what you think.

Here is a quick vid of the jeep on the backyard course. At the end of the vid the lipo cutoff kicked in then for some reason kicked off as you can see. I also think my kid did something to it, vid is proof.
