| Which Chassis? SCX10 or XTrail?
I would really like a scaler as my next truck. I would like to know what chassis people prefer, the XTrail, or the SCX10? I am not really worried about performance, as my idea is to make it my mud runner. I will be using 1.9's. Thanks for any input. Jared

Thats a tough one. The X-Trail is a very good choce and set up right I feel it will out crawl the SCX-10. It is also great of a basher/Mudder rig. Its only down fall is that it is not very scale looking. I would say it comes down to how true you want it to look. SCX-10 is a kick A$$ frame that looks great and holds its ground with 1.9 or 2.2's on it. The price just might be the tie breaker. Thats just my opinion and, We all know opinions are like A$$ holes. Every one has one and, Some times mine stinks. Last edited by Creepy Inc.; 07-10-2009 at 01:24 PM. |

For price and ease of install, I'd go xtrail. The SCX10 is more realistic but is more expensive and I think uses shorter links. I guess it really boils down to what you want.

I have a scx10 I really like it But to get the most out of a chassis I would look into the MSD 12" you can go from a 12" wheel base to 10.5 to a 13.5 with it more bodys to pick from |

Okay. Thanks for the responses. I am thinking the XTrail, because I would like to run a dig as a 2/4 wheel drive setup, and it looks easier to mount a RC4WD tranny on.

I have a X-trail chassis and two other rigs with X-trail clones. They work pretty good. I think its all about setup. The SCX 10 has steel frame, nice radio box, ok shocks If I have a choice my next crawler will be the SCX kit/rolller or just the chassis. SCX but the X trail maybe easier to setup that 2x4 tranny Last edited by Rocksolo; 07-10-2009 at 02:46 PM. |

| Got One!
Well I picked up a almost new SCX-10. The previous owner added the differentials, and the 43/13 gears and a Venow 50T and SWX 4-link plates. I did a quick run, and man was it slow, and the diffs killed the performance and the 4-link plates hit the frame. So I have now changed to stock gearing, locked rear diff, and heavy grease in the front diff (that may change though) a Johnson silver can and back to stock 3-links. Haven't had a chance to run it yet, but I think it will be much better.

After reading a ton of post im going to be picking up a sxc here soon. for a scaler, the sxc has the nice frame looks and for a kit minus Electrics its not to bad priced in around 230-40.
