Default scale compared to buggy performance ?

Hello, Im new! Im new and i dont know what to do!!I am interested in getting an RC crawler, i was wondering if the scale rigs give up much performance compared to the "buggy" style rigs? Im prolly not going to compete, i jsut want to play around. I have had jeeps for 10 years so im pretty partial to jeeps, so i would like to do a scaler, but i dont want to waste mytime if its going to lack the performance of a buggy. How do the scalers fair against purpose built rigs?

So if i just want to mess around and it look like a jeep then scale? Can a scale crawl anywhere close to as good as a comp buggy, or are scales built just to look scale.

Performance depends on parts and how you build it

True, but without skill or determination you get nowhere. You could have top of the line parts for everything and still get your ass handed to you by a rig worth 1/4 the amount you have in yours.

I've been super impressed with my scale Tundra, but I am new too and have never owned a comp rig.....RCKJeep would be the guy to ask about this type of question i think.....He builds some of the best scale rigs and they all do really well compared to other friends comp rigs

You can build a scale Jeep that will preform as good as if not better than it's 1:1 counterpart.

Ok, sounds like scale might be for me. Since im a complete noob to crawlers, what is the size difference between 1.9's and 2.2's. Is it the whole chassis or just the wheels? What is a recommended chassis for a jeep scrambler or jeep rubicon? It doesnt have to be RTR, i actually prefer to put mine together myself.

Its just the size of the wheels 1.9 inch tall or 2.2 tall 1.9 is better for a scaler go to rc4wd drive and look at chassisthere the best

A very good scaler can hang with the comp rigs, but won't beat too many of them. All the detail you add to the body sits above the wheels; a comp rig's weight sits much lower. Even a bare-bones cheater scaler with a plain Lexan body is going to be more tippy than a comp rig, but not by much.

If you build a Jeep, do it with a drop bed and keep your junk in the trunk. Roof racks look great but they add a lot of weight up where you don't want it.

1.9 or 2.2 depends on what body you use. 1.9's are pretty weak on a 1/6 scale unless you're building an Isetta.
