Well now that the scale truck interest has finally caught on around my area, I decided to build another scaler. Something that I have always admired and wanted but was unfortunate to catch it for sale was Exesivefire's Brute, link. My buddy BTF is the current owner of the rig so it just teases me everytime I see it So here my 'attempt' to follow somewhat what he did. I must say, he made the body work appear to be easy but damn I was in for a big surprise. Here is the start of the hacking and joining of the peices. It has taken a long time to get the peices to go together and to be strong but I think it ended up okay With the body work done, I need a frame. Thought about going with an SCX10 chassis but I like the way MSD's warn bumpers look so I went that route. I contaced Unimoger and he hooked me up with a 12" wb MSD "UTE" chassis, shock mounts and a front warn bumper. Unimoger shipped this thing super fast. The one thing I love about it is that the center doesnt hang low like some scale chassis and it offers a lot of options for adjustability The only thing I was disappointed with was the plain delrin skid that was not even drilled to mount BUT on the upside, Unimoger told that the axial skid fit with the use of some 1mm washers on each side which is why I ordered me a stock Scx10 skid from TCS Here you can see the tiny gap with the washers I got me some sliders brazed up. Not the best looking but they work. |

Thanks fellas. I am hoping to have it done in a couple weeks or so. Hey Nick, after seeing your topless rig I am going to reinforce the pillars and everything hoping it will hold up |

Been busy building the past few days. Here is where I am at now. Most of the tube work is done. I still need to make a rear axle truss and a bunch of other things. Now for some pics All cleaned up and painted flat black It will get mounted tomorrow. I also got some new (to me) RC4WD 1.9 OEM steel wheels. These things are nice and super easy to put together well got this idea from Eddievedder to paint the back side of the wheels so that you could acutally see the wheel design. It makes the wheels look 10 x's better |

Great idea it is looking nice. It looks like you are using the axial tranny. How much of the interior needed to be butchered to clear the spur?

My suggestion is to either use the RC4WD R2 tranny or a transfer case. I was not really sure how much i would have to cut out before cutting. I had always heard of people tucking the spur behind the front seats so that is the route i went. Needless to say, in the the entire middle console and some of the seats are missing I may pick up an R2 later and another interior and rebuild. Or I just may hack the floor and sets and replace them with some recaro seats and make me a new console | ||

I like the cage design. Have you considered making the rear shock hoops part of the cage and chopping the back of the frame off? Great work so far! |
