I never have started a build thread for my Samurai... I've been working on it off and on for about a yr...mostly off... Anyways....here's my 1:1 that I'm replicating.... 1987 Samurai TinTop... 5:13 gears ~9" of lift SKY OTT steering Breeze Missing Links 33"x15.50"x15" Super Swamper TSL-SX's 15"x12" wide Mickey Thompson Classic wheels The hardest part in this build so far...was trying to duplicate those F A T Super Swampers that I have on my 1:1. Here's some different stages of the Samurai RC Build...... First.....I decided that I wanted to incorporate a grill into my Samurai build...so I made an emblem.... Trial fit into the lexan Samurai body........ Time for some paint and to test out some pinstripes.... Started Detailing................and added some curving to my grille.......... I made some homemade windshield wipers............ trying out a few different tires........................ More Details................... I then added some real Headlights to my Grille....... Tried out some Tomahawks on it.....too tall..............the bumper that's on it is only TEMPORARY !!! It's too BIG ! I ended up going with an L-Trail Chassis....and some HR lower links. I finally figured out how to duplicate those F A T and W I D E 33"x15.50" Super Swamper SX's.... I bought some 1.9" Rock Stompers that had been partially shaved down. I then...shaved them down a bit more. Then....I got some 1.5" Wheels from Hong Kong.......and I cut my 1.9" Rock Stompers down into some 1.5" Super Swamper SX lookalikes !!! I actually used all of the pieces that I cut out....to make up a 5th tire for my spare. You can't beat that....building 5 tires out of 4 !! Size comparison.....1.5" in front......1.9" right behind it...... Here they are on my Samurai........I still have to get some wideners to get them a little further out. I also want to get some of the new 1.55" RC4WD Alum wheels...the black ones...and then strip the black off and polish them and this will be perfect !!! I also now have a homemade winch bumper/grill guard (looks like a ShrockWorks Bumper) on my Samurai that I'll be duplicating with some tubing to put onto the RC Samurai . Here's some comparisons............................ I'm still working on my interior...I may end up going with a tranny/transfercase setup to get more clearance for an interior...I haven't decided yet. I also still have to finish up my stripe and my homemade diamond plate corner protectors. That's all for now....more to come later.. thanks for checkin it out. Love the 1:1, and your scaler is coming along great. Good job on the tires! Can't wait to see more.

| Thanks...I think if I can get a set of RC4WD's aluminum 1.55 wheels...the black ones with the round holes in them. I think I can strip them down and polish them out and make them look almost identical to the Mickey Thompson Classics that are on my real Samurai ! Quote:

I just started cutting tires about 6-7 weeks ago. I didn't realize how easy it is to cut them up and I was pretty leery about trying to do it. Finally I just grabbed up a set of mashers and started cutting. Now I'm cutting up new tires even !! Thanks for the comments so far....hopefully I'll have some more new updates soon (I'm currently building a Unimog, JK Truck & this ZUKI !) Aron | ||
