| LR Mountain Rescue II - RC4WD Gelände Bangers & Mash - Mountain Rescue II I've taken a few runs at this project but it just keeps slipping away from me... Not this year guys! Got my order in for the new RC4WD Gelände kit today as soon as I caught wind of it. I think it's going to be perfect, my buddy Don (Toytruk) hooked me up with an old Series III body that I want to try before I do a D90...thinking a modern spin on an old classic. This was the inspiration for #1...this time we're getting a little more aggressive! |

This is the SeriesIII body...so tempted to use it but I'm pretty sure I'll be doing a custom build around it this spring Should be making fairly quick work of this one...want to take something scale down to California in April D90 should arrive late next week around the same time as the chassis. |

Thank you Mr. Courier man! My Gelände kit showed up today along with another package, got my Landy body molded in white....time to get crackin! The kit looks fantastic and comes almost fully assembled. I'll be mounting the tires on the beadlocks so I can get the body on tonight. Just want to stare at it for a short while and check clearances. Man I'm so stoked! |

Thanks for the comments guys Spent some time early this morning getting the tires mounted. i must have missed the part that the wheels were beadlocks...lovin these! I'll note that the holes in the wheels are slightly offset and you need to rotate the two halves until your lug holes ad vent holes line up. The tires go on super easy and are the combo looks amazing....my favorite yet. I'm still debating whether or not to paint the wheels orange to match the roof, going to mess around in photoshop later so I know for sure. The black looks rugged and it would be a shame to cover over the powder coating. Body's on just to have a look... Some other detail goodies I had here....got to get to the exo-cage work next. | |||

Thanks guys, the shop's coming along well now I think. They're here!!!! Matt sent these over the other day.... K&M Ambulance attendants...even painted in some of my tats for me. M's arms are recreated so she can navigate instead of drive and gave her a little hand held GPS unit. These two will get detailed along with the interior |

Shut off the phones this afternoon and locked myself in the shop. After a few weeks of being too busy for shop time I really needed to chill for a while. Got the front rol bar and lower portion of the roof rack laid out and tacked together. Second later and supports...tomorrow I'll get the brass up top complete and start on the ladder and other tube work Mounted the Rockountry front bumper and cut up a 3 racing winch to mount it to the bumper. The cable passes through the fair leads and bumper and will eventually have a direct route into the back to the real winch. The ends of the bumper will get smoothed out so it looks like one piece. A mock up shot...tried the disposable lighter emergeny light thing and it's pretty cool, building the actual mounts tomorrow... |

Checked yesterday, flux is lead free, says nothing about acid free...does it make that much of a difference? Anythhing that would make things easier I'm liking the sound of. Very happy with yesterdays progress... Made the ladder for the rear Finished the main roof rack, mount for the emergency lights, sign mount... Got them in primer and paint last night. Will be heading back out for more in a little while, hoping to get the orange on the roof after a few final bars go on. |

The figures are by Toymaker73 (On CC and Tamiya Club) The arm with the GPS you're looking at the inside...made me double check though! More progress... The racks with paint on them and some grab/utility bars in place Getting ready to drill in the holes for the blue flashing LEDs Ladder in place Starting to get the grill area mocked up, drilling for signals, opening grill (will have emergency light buckets hidden behind) and figuring out the brush bars |

Thanks bud, was fun to get out and build again. Not totally happy with the shade of orange, might re-tint and spray it again tomorrow night. Always like oranges with more yellow in them. I'll put the bars on tonight and take a look in different lighting. Did make all the progress I was expecting though and am stoked on the build so far. After seeing the color, I've considered red for the roof and going to a red cross theme.... Some more pics |
