| The Badass Brick? Volvo c303
Well, we're under about 3 feet of snow in the Mid Atlantic today, so I'm starting a side project. I love Toyota and Jeep, having owned both, but by far my most reliable car ever was my 1984 Volvo 240DL. The wiring harness finally gave out at 376,000 miles and even with the engine running strong, I retired it in college for a TJ. My wife currently drives a V50 wagon. If I had to own a CAR, it would be a 240 Wagon. Since Unimogs get all the attention these days, I thought I'd try a build that NO ONE, not even Stu, has done. Stu, I'll leave the Sugga to you. Enter the c303, a vehicle that most Americans haven't heard of. The body will be .030 Styrene Oh, and did I mention... Portals Last edited by radishkid; 02-10-2010 at 10:45 AM. |

So I searched for more blueprints and renderings. Kind of hard to come by. None of the renderings are mine.

^ That would be loosely based on a Pinzgauer 710. Seems like you'd like the Red Bull Sugga... |

Actualty, the axles are Mercedes... and thats about all I have cared to know about the 303 or Pinzgauer. If you want to get technical the O 302, O-303, O-303-S, O-304, OM-360 and the OM-401, OM402, OM-421, OM-422 are all in the same Benz axle family. Oh and mog is not the same as Benz eather becouse they only made. U-400, U-600, U-650, U-800, U-900, U-1000, U-1100, U-1200, U-1250, U-1250L, U-1300L, U-1350L, U-1400, U-1450U-1450L, U-1500, U-1550L, U-1600, U-1650, U1650L, U-1700, U-1750, U-1750L, U-2150, U-2400, U-2450 axle. I'l just leave it at that Last edited by chris w; 02-10-2010 at 05:39 PM. |

Well, you know your stuff, and likely a lot better than I do. You didn't have to type all of that out, but it did make for some interesting reading looking up the history of some of those vehicles. With that in mind, this Volvo (with axles manufactured by Mercedes, or Unimog to keep some folks happy ) build continues. I lucked out a scored a set of 1.9 Tangos from Rckcrwlr. I started drafting in CAD (that would be Cardboard Aided Design in my case). |

I started making cardboard templates tonight. Hopefully tomorrow the state of emergency ban will be lifted from the roads and I can go get some more styrene. | |
