| CC-01 Crawlwers/Wheelers?
I know they wouldn't make the best crawler, but for wheeeling, bashing and some light duty crawling the CC-01 chassis (Pajero,Jeep,Touareg)look pretty cool. Anyone have pics or ideas on lifting the suspension on one? I plan on doing so once I aquire one.

I have four of them... They will never be as capable as a dedicated crawler, but for a trail truck they are great. Being IFS and solid axle in the rear, most of your articulation gain, if thats what you are looking for, can be achieved by replacing the stock rear plastic upper and lower control arms with some more conventional links. Doing so will also allow the addition of larger/better shocks. The most that can hope to be achieved in the front is gaining droop. With some careful trimming of the hub carriers and lower suspension arms I gained a fair amount of droop that netted a real advantage on the trail. I also added longer front shocks to make full use of the added droop. Here is a quick comparison shot. And on the trail... That shot is with no rear suspension mods. pm me if you want/need more info. How long of a shock where you able to use for the front and rear? The stock shocks are around 60mm. I was looking at some 75mm shocks. But I wasn't sure if they would work.

The shocks I'm using are some old associated 3.5in with 20wt oil. They work great. I've seen the same mod performed with 4in maxx shocks with similar results. I'm am running both diffs locked in 3 of my 4.

I use cut stock TLT wheels and tires on mine. with the stock suspention It goes fairly well. Just locked up the diffs with JB weld and off It went. Plus with the way they are geard internaly they still have good wheel speed even with a 55 turn lathe motor.

Wouldn't the turning radius suffer greatly if both diffs are locked? Or is it not that bad? Also can you show me a closer pic of the trimmed front hub carriers? Like I said I don't have one yet to look at but I am on the prowl for one.

Turning radius is actually pretty good. It might be worse on a high traction surface but in the dirt, snow, rocks etc that I run mine in I have no issues. Besides, I think the hard compound tamiya BF Goodrich tires would slip before doing any damage. I don't have any decent close up pics of the trimming of the hub carriers and arms, but I'll be pulling one apart this weekend to stick in some front universals. I'll take some pics then, that or when I start to assemble my Pajero Metaltop.

Sorry man, None of mine are for sale. What is your budget? I'll keep my eyes open. There are a few kicking around here and there for sale. My problem is every good deal I see I snap up. |

Well I am resercting this thread because I just won a cc01 on ebay and will be building it in the near future. I am still looking for pics of your trimmed front carriers burban, and if you could be so kind maybe a pic of the rear links you fashioned. I am toying with running some 2.2 moabs on narrowed stampede wheels. Has anyone tried anything similar to this?

Here are some pics of my "JeroClod" 4-links rear setup and some leftover TLT socks. Not much of a crawler but a great trialtruck. |

There's no limit to what you can do with a CC-01. Bet you've never seen one with duallies and a working boom on the back before And a 12-inch driveshaft |
