You're getting pretty dang good with that brazing crunk.

Really like the bumper mod!

i was a little bored, and sick of looking at the cheesy 3 racing winch hook...
so i cut one out and hand filed it.

i might slim it down a bit, but the rough idea is there.

wow it's not easy to stay up on page one or at least two of the 1.9 section anymore... there are a ton of awesome builds going on right now, so i understand why it's tough to get a comment with my junk

i got the body all painted up now. i originally had thought that leaving the flares the raw color that they were would give them the illusion that they were a rubber flare, and didn't get painted... now that i am looking at it finished, i think i might go back and just hit them real quick with a fresh coat of white.

i got the interior all done for now. i just went basic and clean.
i have to admit i am really under the gun to get this rig rolling, and some of the details are going to be added after she's a roller.

plus just when i think i am done, i got another little changeup or something going on.

i did get my driver and passenger for the rig though. i was on a hunt, and kept getting outbid on those strange brew characters.
then it hit me...
the rig's name is rock cop.
the driver should be something like an enforcer.
how about a bossman ?

... and what's a bossman without no business ?

... and what's a business without a little bit of corruption ?

here is one of those stubborn little pop ups...
i got the seats bolted in, the drivers legs are cut so the can sit at a 90 degree angle, and bam.
the drivers legs are running straight into the exo bar the helps support the dash and tube doors.
doh !

time to get out the torches again

so here is the internal cage work.
you can see the cross bar is low.

adding the upper brace.

added downtubes and removed the old braces.

now the last brazing to be done on the rig will be the sliders.
i think they are going to be brazed to the cage and catch the chassis behind the front leaf mount.

well i didn't get much pics of this stretch of the updates...
but i did manage to get the seats mounted, the rear tubework, and the exo cage squared up and lining up to the body again. i painted all the tubework.
i figured out that this rig is more like a jigsaw puzzle.

you cant put the floor down unless the seats are in, you can't fold the tube doors past the seats to fit the body over, unless you have them half undone so they can tip forward and close past the seats, you can't get the tranny in unless the body is on, you can't get the battery in if the body is on. you can't put the shafts in unless you undo a set of shackles...
damn.

anyways, here is the final mock up-mocking stage. it seems that this rig has a bit of axle steer, i am not sure if it's due to the shortness of the links, vs the length of travel the shocks allow...
i got to do more homework on that, or if you got hints please share.
i still have tons to do to it. i want to build set of sliders for it.
i have to wire it up, esc, servo, BEC, the lights. then on to the
finishing touches, the dash, the shifters and guage detail, the winch, and then top it all off with kuatto's scale rc parts and accessories blaa blaa blaaa....
ok how about just pics.

thanks for looking...
donations welcome.

I agree, but I would lean towards restification vs restoration, he made lots of changes to improve it.

wow thanks for all the replies !!!

when i first took on this project, i was thinking it would be a resto-mod. this truck was way cool to begin with and i didn't want to stray far from the original theme. i also didn't want to rush it and make a mess of it.

i'm really eyeballing that dash kit from RPP hobby.
dash kit at rpp <------ clicky

i am also thinking of adding another winch on the back deck.

hopefully it will be at skinner mtn at some point. i have a lot to do to it still.
then hopefully... if i play my cards right...

Montana 2011 it will make it's return to the scale nationals and hopefully win me some freebies

thanks all for the energetic replies !!! reading replies makes it that much more rewarding to sit at the bench and pick away at it.

as for skinner mountain and taking pics with clampy...
i am looking into taking that day off of work, and i already got the ok from the secretary of war ( my wife ) so it looks like we are good to go.
i just need to get this rolling on it's own.
i'm still trying to find a cheapie tq3 radio to throw into it for now. i don't want to rob any gear out of my other trucks if i don't have to.
has anyone pointed these dates out to bob and mike ?

dang, caught another snag...
the rig had a loose rear wheel, and the hex was grinding into the axle...

took it all apart and my heart sunk...
it's not supposed to look like this.

so i looked it all over, and found that it was just the outside bearings that were toast... great. where am i going to get that part ?
i had a hard time trying to find one of the 3/8 inch hexes to match the three i had. i ended up drilling out a set of axials and it works so far.

anyways...
i remembered there was one small bag that came with the cop in all that shredded newspaper...

there are 4 bearings and two shafts in there.
maybe it was enough to rebuild one axle, but now i have robbed it to make due on the cop.
i'm just afraid to take the others apart.
these are MIP shafts.
where can i get a bearing set for these ?
anyone ?
thanks for all the replies !!!!

well the last update didn't grab shit for attention...
musta been the update over at bowtie's truggy.

anyways, maybe this can perk some ears ?

i made up a set of sliders for it. i copied the same basic design you find on 90% of the trail rigs out there. for the main stays and the main tube i used solid 3/16 rod, and the hoops and braces are 3/16 brake line.

i'm trying like hell to get this thing done for sunday... but i got things still showing up in the mail.
