finally!

1.55 Novas. I knew that I needed to do something in the foam department from day one but I just never got around to doing it. Some trimmed down 5.0 dual stage Novas were used to make the foams. I really like how they make the tire feel when they are mounted up. The tire is full with little to no sag but it is very soft to the touch almost like a memory foam but without the temperature inconsistencies.

I also tapped the wheels out to 3mm and I'm scratching my head wondering why they weren't made that way. I still need to get some more screws so I can finish them up.

These pics were taken at a new spot down at Sardis Lake.

I drove this rig @ the www.scaletrailrunners.com 2nd annual food drive/trail ride and was impressed . For it to have such short wheelbase it goes very well . Thanks Ashton for letting me drive the heep .

You are more than welcome , Andy.

The od/ud gear setup really helps. especially with this top heavy HEEP. Now I just need to get some reliable bead locks for it. 3 beads in one day sheesh

I am a bit torn in between tires at the moment... I love the height of the Mud Hawgs but they perform poorly compared to a Pro-line tire. After I had all of the bead trouble I just put my 1.9 Flat Irons on and damn near walked everything where as I had to really work the Hawgs at times. Only If pro-line made a 4.3ish tall 1.9 ... i hope i dream.....

You know, I keep coming back to this build and I can't explain why really. No ultra intricate tube work, no uber scale details, no custom paint, and yet it remains one of my favorite builds?

So if you don't mind, I think I'm going to have to add something simular to my collection!

I'd have to agree, I've looked this over a few times and am amazed how large the 1.55s look! they really do look HUGE even though they're tiny in the scheme of things!

I am glad that you like my build. From the start I wanted a simple scaler that looked and drove well. mission accomplished

Yes I agree, and that's the only reason why I chose the Mud Hogs due to their 4.27" size. I get similar results with the Flat Iron but the 1.9 rim still just looks too big for this jeep. It could be that I'm using the scx-10 rims... those rings are big. I have seen some 1.9's that looked great and those were the Mayhem Trail Shooters. The size of the ring makes a big difference.

minor update:

I stretched the rear by 5mm, New paint with added detail, removed lugs from the Hogs, and the TSS rings are back on thanks to JB Weld. I'm not quite giving up on the steelies and hogs just yet. I think the main reason why they were giving me so much troubles at the trail ride were because the inner weights got loose.

Same, except I figured out why. It's simple like the scalers back then.
Designed for fun, you don't see that anymore.
