| PROJECT ~LandCruiser Hardbody~ Well...I thought that I'd go ahead and start my build thread on my LANDCRUISER HARDBODY that I picked up awhile back. This body is known by 2 different names....it's referred to as: NIKKO TRAILBLAZER and/or NIKKO GLADIATOR Some of the version's have doors....while other's are doorless. Mine is one of the "doorless" versions. This is one of the most accurate Landcruiser HARDBODIES that I've seen. I've never seen any other LANDCRUISER HARDBODIES that were Convertibles...either. It really only needs a nice windshield frame and windshield....and a better cage...to make it REALLY NICE. These bodies come with a small little 1/2 or even 1/4 sized front windshield....and it doesn't have any kind of a windshield frame either. I started doing some measuring...and this body's spec's....and this body's dimension's are really close to the 1/10th scaled NEWBRIGHT Jeep Bodies Specs/Dimensions...so that will help...as you'll soon see. I plan on building this up...and I'm also thinking about making up a cab for it...and possibly turning it into my personal favorite Landcruiser....which is the LANDCRUISER PICKUP. I'm still not sure if I'll go that way or not. Anyways...I've done some mod's to this body so far...here's what I've done: Colored the Grill Shell (I went for simplicity here....SILVER SHARPY ! ) Added Real Headlights (Still looking for more clear lenses though) Added Headlight buckets I painted up..and added some of Stefan's AWESOME "LANDCRUISER EMBLEMS" !! (these are AWESOME) Painted the Fender Mounted Parklights/Turn Signals...and added side marker lights to those light housings too. Notice the UGLY FACTORY ROLL CAGE !! I've done some work on replacing it too...you'll see in the pics below I also plan on maybe adding the "LOUVERED Slots...on the fenders...I've noticed that some 1:1 Cruiser's have them...and some do not...? Here's some Pics of my LANDCRUISER. Last edited by BiG_DaWgZ; 10-09-2010 at 09:14 AM. |

| Here's a quick mock-up shot...of this body with some new 1.9" TrailBuster tires. I did this just to give you an idea of how it would look with other similar sized tires and wheels on it. Here's some of it with smaller 1.9" sized tires.....these are S.D.I. "Grip Doctor's"...mounted up on a set of converted "FlyWheels" white spokes. |

| I decided to try to use a Newbright Windshield and front glass...on this body. I ended up scoring several of them..by putting up a "Wanted" post here on RCC. dkchance74 hooked me up with one of them. Thanks bro !! It was a great deal...it only had one small broken area...which was the mount part on the driver's side. That didn't matter though...because I had planned on modifying all of that anyways. Member R2j hooked me up with 2 more of these...and I now have enough for all of my current builds !! THANKS A TON GUYS !!! I shaved the bottom of the windshield to get rid of the "risers"...mainly because this LandCruiser has those kind of built in to the body...where as the NewBright...doesn't. Then...I shaved the hinge mount areas down..quite a bit...so that this would be able to fold down...on this body. I then shaved down the actual mount tab that goes into the body...so that it would fit. Then I just made the driver's side match the passenger side...by cutting down some styrene and some old plastic parts tree pieces. Anyways.....here it is...it works PERFECT....and it fits PERFECTLY too.....height and width wise !!! SO Now...everyone knows...an easy way to give yourself a nice windshield....for these Nikko LandCruiser Hardbodies. Thanks Aron Last edited by BiG_DaWgZ; 10-09-2010 at 09:00 AM. |

| I picked up a cool NewBright Jeep body from another fellow member on the boards (scale4x4rc member "notagain").....and he had built a pretty cool cage for it. This cage is made out of solid rod...not hollow tube...so it's pretty stout..and it really doesn't weigh that much at all either Well...I decided to pull the cage out and I modified it for this LandCruiser ! I plan on adding 1 more piece to this cage...to finish up the rear and give it a bit more triangulation. Here...you can see where I plan on adding the piece (I've Drawn A YELLOW line...to represent the final piece that I'm going to weld onto this cage) Then...I'll just clean all of the other welds up with my dremel......then Paint it up...and it will be good to go ! :nice: Here's the piece I'll be adding: And Here's some more pics.....just to let everyone see how this body looks with a PROPER Cage in it....instead of that AWFUL cage that they come with !! (Also...the YELLOW TJ...is NOT for sale !! Everytime it's in the background of one of my pics..I get PM's asking if it's for sale !! ) |

| Thanks bud !! I covered the "RUBICON" letters on the windshield with a "4 Wheel Parts" windshield strip...so I didn't have to worry about hazing the windshield while trying to remove the rubicon lettering ! I'll post some more pics of the windshield banner here in a few....but otherwise...that's it for now. I'm working on a chassis...and I"ll post up some more updates when I get it closer to being a roller !! Thanks ARON |

You can find them on ebay...sometimes...one just sold last week...for $68 + shipping ! Most of the ones that I've seen sell......have gone in the $50-$75 price range...+ shipping. If you look...you can find some of these out there still ! Aron Last edited by BiG_DaWgZ; 10-09-2010 at 10:27 AM.

That is a sick body I would like myself a hardbody for my CC. Great looking tubework. Any ideas for the final color. Are you going to powdercoat the tubing or spray paint? |

| Thanks...I really like it ! Quote:
There's a guy about 20 mins from me...that has done alot of powdercoating of larger items for me in the past. I plan on giving him a shout....just to see if he may be interested in doing some smaller items...for me ...so...hopefully the tubing and chassis on this rig will get powdercoated ! Thanks ! I agree....that cage really helped out with the looks of this body. This body looks pretty realistic/accurate too....here's a few 1:1's to compare it with : Last edited by BiG_DaWgZ; 10-10-2010 at 08:33 AM.

That's a great looking body, nice details on it. I like the stance of it with the Grip Doctors. Any plans on what you're going to do for paint, or are you just going to leave it alone for now? |
