Exclamation Project "working class superduty" true scale

I've always wanted a crew cab tamiya but after tons of research I decided to go down to an ext. cab 1 the crew cabs are really too long for any true wheeling and 2 this wont be a shelf queen, It has to be good on the trails, pull my boat trailer ( building that in this thread too) and be ready for a tug O war.

And I'm not one to just bolt something together so this will be a fully custom rig and anythig I can't build RC4WD will be thanking me for my generous donations...

parts:

Tamiya f350 shell extended
custom frame
Rc4wd r2d trans
Rc4wd scale shocks and red boots 80mm
Rc4wd aluminum d 60's
Rc4wd shackles and hangers
Rc4wd steelies m3 hiem joints
Rc4wd pro10 stamped steel 1.9s
Rc4wd tires to be determined
Rc4wd Leaf helpers
Tamiya jugg leafs

and the rest will come in when it needs to

Thanks, I left it longer in the front and rear and the x member are just tack welded The last one I built turned out too short and being all custom and with my luck.. I would have got them inthe wrong spot so it's a litte more forgiving this way

Small update, I was originaly going to mount the cab using the factory holes but after seeing the thread on the f350's I decided to make some towers and I'll fill in the stock holes for a more cleaner look. Also finaly got my wb straightened out.

Looks tacky like this but it will all get hidden anyways and it will double as an interior rollbar, some velcro squares on top will make for easy access too. ( the rear bed mount is just sitting there for mockup the bed will be on a hinge finished)

nice....what did you use to make that frame rail. it looks to be c-channeled i'm curious if you milled out some square stock or cut some 1/2 tubing i did the 3/8 square stock and then bent it after it was channeled and man it took a while. i was hoping you had a better idea on this, thanbks and i'm subscribing to this

The frame was 1/2" box steel that I heated and bent, bending box steel was alot harder than I thought it would be almost blew through it had to work slow then once I got the shape down I split it down the center with a cut off wheel.

Where the leaf spring shackles and hangers mount to the frame I cut some flat stock down and tacked it in place inside the c for reinforcment.

I also left it long in the front and back as you can see in the pics cause I wasnt sure where the body would sit, It will get shortened up later and have new x members welded in

Wow you know its been almost 2 months in this new job and I still havnt been able to find the time to get this rig back on the bench. I really want to finish it but it's not looking like I'll ever find the time.

And to boot my other scaler needs an esc and I havnt had time to check the clasifieds for a good used one, Might have to break down and just buy a new one I miss beating up the rock pile..
