| My Hilux in Wolf Creek RC ORV Park
Here is the latest in my stable. Tamiya highlift Hilux. I added a Rouge Elements drop bed, It's not quite finished. I need to add mirrors & tail lights. I have a winch that will go on later. I want to keep the stock bumper but figure out something for the winch with brass. The paint is polished out with micro mesh sanding pads & Novus polish to get a scale look & then dull coated for a faded look. I had some flat Irons but they didn't look scale enough for me & my RC4WD dirt diggers looked a bit on the small side so I ended up with Tomahawks which I thought worked pretty well. Anyway it's my first hard body truck & I made a few mistakes but I'm happy enough with it to post pics. Thanks to Norm @ Team3Six for the power tank in the back & PardonmyN00b for the toolbox. all are taped in now. not sure exactly where they will end up. Sorry to say the bridge pics are poser shots. I just couldn't bring myself to fall off the new bridge yet. Maybe once I get it finished. Last edited by DRW-FJ40; 08-15-2011 at 02:07 PM. |

Wheels are cheapos from china. plastic but hey... $16, can't beat it. I plan to get some Landie beadlocks from RC4WD & use these for spares. I don't think the plastic hexs will hold up to hard play but they look good & will do fine for spare tires or a trailer. http://cgi.ebay.com/Land-Rover-Defen...item415c0abfb2 |

You've got a couple of sweet Toyota's there. Seeing only five lugs on an old Hilux, I can't help but get weirded out . The dual exhaust is also a little obnoxious on such an otherwise clean truck. Totally digging the old-school "T" toyota logo in the grille. The first rollover is going to make you cringe! Please have the decency to post pics. While your posing the shots, how's about a flex shot? |

Thanks, I don't get to stressed about # of lugs but did think twice about the dual exaust. may end up taking one side off. If you want to really get get scale, a 4 banger would have a hard time turning 19" wheels & that much rubber but... not a fan of V8 conversions on toyotas either. I have a '72 FJ40, which is all original. My 5 year old ran it under the car & caught the cab on the bottom of the muffler of our Honda. I buffed it out but it won't be a shelf queen so... yea, I'll post damage pics. if you notice in the last shots, the wipers are already gone. |

what chassi is that? (sorry noob question) also does anybody else wish that the tomahawks look a little more like full sized MTR's? wrangler mtr's are my tire of choice in 1:1 before they changed them to the dumb new ones. but i dont wanna get them for my 1:10 because they just dont look as real as other scale tires out there do. |

It's a Tamiya high lift chassis. It would be nice to see more licensed tire options for sure. There are a lot more options than ever before though. If I didn't already have the tomahawks, I think I would have looked at HPI Geolanders.

| I have access to a lot of reprographic stuff at work, so I do them. I used the ACME license plate site, http://www.acme.com/licensemaker/ & send it to a laser jet on vinyl sticker paper. Same with the bumper stickers & my oil can logos.
