This is gonna be good! Can't wait to see the finished truck.

Hmm? Wonder what axles you're gonna use?

Yea - if i decide to go with the Wraith axles they'll definitely be chopped cuz the stock width is just ridiculous for a crawler. Specially places like the GP, full width axles would never fit in the "canyons".

Thanks!

Had some free time today and made progress on the cab side hoops. I reversed the order of bends from the original trial hoop in order to alleviate the interference with my bender on the last bend. Also adjusted some of my bends marks to compensate for the material thickness.

4 hoops - enough to do 2 cabs
All thats left is chop, notch and join the ends

This chromoly tubing is a joy to work with - wished it wasnt so heavy:twisted:

What in the hell kind of bender do you use? Those are some clean bends right there! Looks like a machine did it.

guncrazy72 08-28-2011 09:21 AM

This is going to be a awesome build to see finished! Ill be keeping a eye on this thread.

im using a home built bender w/custom dies and ball bearing pivot. Its still under development cuz every so often i come across a bend that challenges its swing clearance. So definitely no machine invloved here:) just a crude bender and lots of measuring & marking

JWEIMER 08-29-2011 03:40 PM

Your bending skills amaze me every time  . Can't wait to see this rig come together. "thumbsup""thumbsup" All your rigs have such clean lines.

prifral 08-29-2011 10:31 PM

only had time for a couple of notches and brazes tonight
http://gallery.me.com/prifral/100165...13146781030001
since all the alignment and measurements from this point on will be based on these two hoops it was very critical to be sure that these hoops be exactly the same in every dimension and absolutely flat when laid down. ill double check the flatness on a surface plate tomorrow.

You're quite the craftsman prifral. Can't wait to see this build come together.

o_0 AMAZING.... I just joined to post on this, Mongo has a 502v8 and 18 inches of suspension travel.
Just plain awesome work man, I will be watching this one.

Autoblog linked inside line's story on it, a couple close up shots in there.

Lol Rich. I know I faked on yah. All I have to show for it is a pile of scrap chromoly tubing. Been busy w/other stuff plus we had some scaling issues. Had to go back to the CAD and re-size it to this monstrosity!

When all is said and done the Mongo should be able to carry that Mog on its flat bed:)

We've also been working on our hilux bracket. This is our first proto on Jensen's rig. It ended up way too thick and rigid
http://gallery.me.com/prifral/100165...13156122680001
This is our second go. Less carbon fiber = just the right amount of flex

So yeah when your jet lag wears off - WE CRAWL!

SDheavymetal 09-11-2011 08:05 PM

What kind of bender do you use?

Did you use a top hat section (roofing beam) for the mould?
