| Punks' work in progress FJ-40
So I have always liked the old school Fj-40 but dont have the cash to drop on a real one so what better scale project. it started life as a 2.2 I dint like the tube work because it looked to much like a Jeep. So I started over and now it looks right to me After the media blaster and some primer And paint And as a roller More later |

thanks guys. So i cut the body in half because the tamiya body is to short for the scx chassis, and the short wheelbase did not preform very well. some more pics: lights from KC jones running at our G6 in rico some body work and some paint the box is for the battery and will be finished to look like a fuel cell. I may have to change that to a tool box because it is fairly large. we will see after the scale run this weekend. I will post up some more pics of the final paint/body tomorrow. |

| I know I'm doing this a bit backward I did the build then posted the thread after I have run the rig in two comps. This build is far from finished, but it started over a year ago Got shelved then restarted/redesigned and now I am addicted to the scale build. My wife is pissed a DwaneO because I spend all my time in the garage. I blame this addiction on him. |

After running this rig a few times it was clear i needed to make a few mods to make this rig work better, and look more scale. THe first fix was getting rid of the huge fuel cell/bat box. So I built a new one that was smaller |

Next up was getting rid of the plastic rock sliders, and bumpers. While I was at it I moved the batteries lower from the rear deck to the sliders. In doing this I lost Mah size, so I am going to run 2 batteries to keep the weight even |

After trying many mods to get the rc4wd axles to work better I gave up, and went with some well built axial axles Highland lockers, od front, and ud rear. This single mod has made the most differance in the way the rig performs. I also ditched the rc4wd tranny due to lack of wheel speed. I am limited with width and depth for the tranny so I mounted it sideways using the ever handy cutting board. The motor sits higher than i would like, but I dont have any other alternative, so I will have to live with it |

Last thing to tackle was the interior. I have been dreading this step because i am not a natural with styrene, but I have to learn sometime, so here it is. Ran out of time last night to finish the speedo, and steering wheel, but it turned out alright. |

So for the most part I am finished minus a few punch list items heres the final product. I am going to get a new body to clean up the sides but basicly after 1.5 years i am finished. |

I liked the first cage work, but the second one is even better. This rig came out really nice, Iam a sucker for anything that is an old school FJ. |
