| 808DA6's Toyota Pickup
The last time I went wheeling with the guys I had nothing but headaches. Not enough weight. Weight not in the right places. Full bodied Toyota got hung up all over the place. Poor steering angle. Etc..etc...etc.... So, I gathered up some parts I had sitting aroung and started to build. First, I tried to bob.. Hated the bed. Needed a drop bed. So, pulled the body to get it ready for a drop bed conversion. I mounted this doved cab just in case a crawl session popped up. The more I looked at it, the more I liked it. It may be permanent. Solid mounted it (yay, no body posts) and needed an easier way to change batts. Built this... Some misc details for fun... Yea, I know. I need inner fenders. I also added a little more weight to the front wheels. Added weight to the nose and mid-section. New front axles have high-steer knuckles and CVD's. Hope she performs. Thanks for looking. -Brian Last edited by 808DA6; 02-09-2012 at 09:32 PM. Reason: Changing to a more appropriate title. |

Thanks. The grills are accidents. The servo is mounted so far forward that I couldn't fit light buckets on this doved lid. Turned out pretty cool. Leave them black?

Success! Took the truck out last week and was still having a little bit of a weight issue. Added more to the front wheels and rear axle. Took it out today and I was impressed. Still needs some tuning, but going in the right direction. Spring Park, OR. |

Tuning these rigs is tricky. Not enuff weight, too much weight, too much or too little front and/or rear.......Ai sus!

Hey Brian, little slick out there today. That thing looks like it's sticking very well. How many wraps of weight are you using in the front?

Trav: Yup. That TJ is sick! How do you like the 16T motor? That's a 5 plate com yea? 16T on 4S!!! Cheeeee. Mega wheel speed no? You going be home in May? Kevin: Yes, it was VERY slick out there today. I was ear-to-ear with some of the lines this thing did today. The only drawback is that I need to add a bed or sorts to be legal. Gonna have to re-tune the weight again. I got four wraps of weight in each front wheel, but the outer-most lead has been flattened to about 1/8". Each front wheel/tire combo weights 9.75oz.. |
