| KOH Silver Bullet Taco (pics of rock lights added)
I recently tore apart my honcho with the plan being to build a truggy. I had already started collecting the materials and tools needed to build up a cage. But then..... While doing a quick glance of the classifieds, I saw that the Silver Bullet Taco chassis was up for sale/trade. I love the quality craftsmanship and cool factor of an interior cage. I struck a deal and recieved the chassis a few days later. Here is a link to the orginal build "Sliver bullet Taco" As you can see, she needs some love. The interior is in pieces, the chassis needs paint, and I am going to replace the body. I also have some upgrades in mind. The chassis is already set up for a CMS, but not for a panhard bar with 3 link. I ordered the hand brothers front axle bracket, so all I need to do is add a tab to the chassis for the bar itself. I'm also going to ditch the current roof mounted light bar and surrounding cage. The lights dont work, and the lights are kinda bent. I have something else in mind. I'm going to reuse as much of my old honcho as possiable to save money. I'm reusing the wheels/tires, links, axles, drivelines, and transmission. The wheels are stock plastic 1.9 (that need a fresh coat of flat black) with aluminum beadlock rings. Tires are 1.9 TTC baja claws. The axles have axial chubs, knuckles, and lockouts. And gunnar beef toobs front and rear. The transmission is all stock other then a one piece robinson racing output. And the drivelines are honcho length MIP's |

| Re: Bringing back the Silver Bullet Taco And thanks to the rest of ya for checking Hi Hoe Silver out. I got some parts in, and have spent a lil time messing with her. I'm having a hard time figuring out how to make a panhard bar work. I will only get about 60% om my suspension cycle before the bar would get pinched between my pumpkin and the frame. The frame has already been notched and I dont want to have a high COG. Unless you guys have any ideas I'm going to just stick with the 4 link and deal with bump steer. On to the pics... Naked Girl! Sexy shocks if I do say so myself. I think they look a lot like air shocks on 1:1's RC4WD Ultimate Scale Shocks 110mm And the source of all my current frustration I removed the light bar and plan on running this. Gear Head Trail Torch Since I had everthing moched up as far as the suspension goes, I did some flex shots. These flex shots are brought to you by Bud Light, AMERICAS BEER! |

Completed the light bar. It's the first time I have tried brazing, and I think it turned out sweet. A lot of trial and error......... Still need to do a lil bit of cleanup. And when I around to cutting up the new body, I will be sure to notch around the light bar a lot cleaner. Since I wasnt able to work out a panhard bar, I just removed the handbrothers axle bracket and used a stock axial stock 4 link bracket. My next project is going to be reworking the rear cage to fit the spare tire and fuel cell. The cage is currently set up to run a propane tank, but with this body I think a fuel cell makes more sence. And the current spare tire setup isnt going to work for me. you have to wedge the tire in place. Let me know what you guys think, and if you have any ideas or questions. |

Found some time to work on the silver bullet this weekend. Removed the spare tire mount so I could have a clean canvas to work with. I had planned on mounting the fuel cell just behind the cab. But, the shock towers were to narrow and I didnt want to try and narrow the fuel cell. So it would have to go to the rear of the truck. Only problem with that was it sat a little higher then the cage. So I got creative and built a sheet metal box for it to fit in. Then I actually frenched in the box to lower it roughly 1/2". I could have just cut that much off the fuel cell, but this way I got to play with fire My next project is the spare tire mount. I have two options, vertical or angled with the cage. What do you guys think? |

Wow man your doing a good job bringing this back! Those shocks, just in my personal opinion, aren't that great. I ran them with leaf springs and the pistons inside the shock shattered and I had a shock cap strip out too. Maybe you'll have better luck than me though. But they do look good that's for sure!!

Shattered shock pistion? Were you running an internal spring in the shocks or just the leaf springs? Really hope these hold up..... | |
