| Propanes S-10 Custom G6/OTC
*S-10 body change post #46* Some of you have seen me out with my SCX10 Jeep TJ hardbody. Great rig but it has a 10" wheelbase and is a solid 8.5 pounds. I decided to go lighter and longer. Here is what I came up with. This is a 50s Chevy truck body I had painted and used a few years ago. Its no show piece but will make an excellent G6/OTC rig. I'm doing this project using mainly parts and spare parts I have collected over the last few months. Here are the planned parts. SCX10 chassis and running gear Axial CVD Hot Racing lockers Aluminum Chubs and knuckles Home built links and steering Home built CMS and Panhard Heyok Servo winch with a sumquak winch spool on it 7955tg steering servo (due to the bad economy I too have to cut back, Using a 5645mg instead) FXR with 35t Axial Beadlocks with RC4WD Iroks Some parts should be in this week. Trying to be ready by this next weekend for the Rock Riot and Coyote Hole. Last edited by Propane; 09-07-2012 at 08:08 PM. |

I mounted all my electronic boxes. The front will have the steering servo, RX and BEC inside. It will have the servo winch mounted on the rear facing side of the front box. The rear box will hold the FXR. Should keep everything watertight.

Servo winch mount is done. Check out the spool from sumquak. I run his spool on my TJ and it's well made and easy to install and remove. Doesn't jam on and get bound to your servo.

| Re: Propane does G6/OTC That is my goal. Im waiting on a few parts from RPP that will be here in a day or two. I hope to have the axles built by Wednesday and a complete roller all linked up by Thursday night. That leaves me with Friday to fab up a front bumper and fairlead mount. Then I just need to wire it up, figure out the gearing, add some weight as needed and BAM! Ready to go! |

There you go,nice start.I hate to say it,but your servo winch is going to rip right out of that project box.I would make a brace/mount to secure it better.Just my opinion though, looking forward to seeing this finished. |

| The servo plate has two bolts through the plastic with a metal backing plate and nylon locknuts. It shouldn't let go. The plastic mounts might pull off but the plate isn't going to move.

Sweet, just looked a little vulnerable, but with the metal backer and nylocks should be good to go like you said. | |

Mounted up a Panhard mount to the chassis. Used a Vanquish Products Razor mount. Gives me two mounting positions and can shift forward or back using the left or right razor mount.

wow what a clever idea, cant wait to see what you think about that razor mount and if it works out for you. Do you use the handbros cms with panhard mount on any other rigs you have, so that you can compare it too?

Transmission, shocks, servo, BEC and lockers were in the mail today. Built the axles this evening. The Hot Racing lockers went right in mounted to stock gearing. It has more slop than I care for but they were cheap. Used the Axial straight axle in the rear and the Axial CVDs in the front. They are complete hex to hex and ready for install. I even weighted the wheels and mounted them up. Built the trans and mounted up my Tekin 35t with 16/87 gearing. That should be in the ballpark. Going to be running 3s lipo. If the kids all crash out soon I hope to build the shocks tonight. Then tomorrow it's time to build the control arms, panhard bar and steering links. Crunch time is the best time. Rock Riot and G6 here we go! |

I forgot that my son started baseball today so I will not make my goal of having this rig ready. Plus I need a different front truss to allow my Panhard to work. Still get to G6 tomorrow!

Picked up a rear truss and a front truss with panhard mount from Bruce at the G6. Check them out mounted up. Going to start the links tonight or tomorrow and get this into a roller.
