Default BOWTIE'S old JEEP JK

BOWTIE built this here Goodwill JK

LINK TO HIS BUILD BELOW
Goodwill Score NOW JK Build...

Then BOWTIE put that JK up for sale

eddievedder contacted BOWTIE via RCCRAWLER'S PM system and we worked a deal where I sent him money electronically, then he put the Jeep in a big cardboard box and mailed it to my house.

I received it and it sat in storage for months. I unpacked it a few weeks ago and it was like Christmas (or equivalent holiday) morning. Since I have not built anything RC in well over a year, I thought this could jumpstart me back into the hobby.

SOME SPPECS:

Axial SCX10 Honcho Chassis Stretched to just over 13".
Axial Trans moved back about ½.
Axial Axles Stockers with RCP Knuckles.
Punisher Drive Shafts.
Holmes 35T Sport.
Losi Spektrum RX
Hitec 645
Hand Bros Honcho CMS Kit
Axial Black Wheels with MT Head rings
1.9 RokLox
Rouge Element Wheel Hubs
3racing Winch
DH fab sliders and high clearance rear bumper

How I got it from BOWTIE

Tearing it down...

Adding a metal cage made from brakeline

I almost actually like the toy version "stock" two tone paint but I am not a big fan of the color silver so maybe I keep it two tone but do something like this:

Thanks, I always admired his work. This one is simple and was a perfect fit for my dwindling collection of RC vehicles. Some of your pics are in his OG build thread. Good stuff.

Thanks. The body is has been primed and paint just went on. Maybe pics later.

OK so I took out the thread and removed the "freedom top" area. So now I have a few options on tops.

"Freedom Top" I think this pic is funny. Reminds me of that Whack-A-Mole game

Anyway, on to business... I cut the Freedom Top area out with thread.

Now I can run it a few ways.

Totally topless

Freedom topless

Or full top

I went black with the tailgate as well

Flexy

I am liking the stance of this Jeep

Freedom top...

That's a real nice setup, great looking colors on it now also! Add some clear or tinted lexan windows on the doors and lid, and it's ready for a show and shine! Really nice stance, yes! This is quite a successful way to get back into the hobby!

Thank you. I planned on doing the windows soon.

OK so I was going to use this cage/roof rack but I have decided against it. It's an rcmodelex JK cage.

I think if you cut the roof rack off of the cage, so its just the cage, I'd say it would look pretty bad ass. just my opinion though

Looks good Bob! Is there a way to set up to be able to change the roofing on the fly? I think it looks pretty good in all the different variations

Thanks I like the look of the cage/roofrack also but it just doesn't go with this style rig. If it were a full flared safari type JK then yes, the rack would stay.

I might sell the it or keep it for another JK build down the road.

Yeah, though the cage/roofrack would take some time to take off, but I am ditching it. But I can run the full top, take out the freedom top or go topless in a matter of seconds.

Well I sold the roof rack/cage so this is how I will wheel the JK. Topless...

I still have not decided if I am going to paint the interior a different color. Sometimes I look at it and I like the tan. And sometimes it looks like it stands out too much and draws your attention to the interior.

I am going to try to get this rig up and running this week. Stay tuned.

Very nice! I like the new color scheme. I think some contrasting colors in the interior would look great.

Not exactly like your rigs interior but you get the idea.

This one has sat on the shelf long enough...

Mike (1badjeepbruiser) and I might do some 1.1 wheelin' this week and I wanted to bring a few toy trucks to play with. So I got busy on this one. About a year ago I had it close to a runner. Today it IS a runner.

I never posted this last year but I tore it down and painted the interior, which was tan, grey. I hate it more now than I hated the tan LOL. I dont care though I just want to wheel it.

OK onto today's progress.
Installed the electronics and tightened everything up.

Yeah I still use big clunky 7.2cell batteries, so sue me.

Needed a spot for it so I trimmed a little on the inside of the interior and the battery hides and fits perfectly. I made a battery tie tie down from some steering links and rod ends. This thing aint coming out.

Took it for a spin on the beach and it was a blast.

Full top on

Freedom top removed

Crazy sand monster. I think pardonmyn00b needs that claw on his garage wall next to the giraffe head.

Topless is the only way to go on a beach with weather like this.

Butt shot

Ok she is ready for some wheelin' later this week.
