Default Blakeski's xtra cab 2nd gen "Ginger"

hey guys i posted this over in our local forum so i thought i would make a build thread here as well.. i wheel 1:1 rigs and have tried to build my 85 yota a few times with the outcome not ever reaching its goal.. so i contacted a friend of mine to help me out some on the body work.. he started and the project got pushed on the back burner for along time.. i took what he had done and now its time for me to finish this thing up..

first i want to show a pic of my 1:1 rig and the direction where this is headed

and being a true toyota guy i would only want to use a bruiser frame lol
i had my c1 truck and i built it just to comp and i never really liked it much so sarge is getting donated for this project

so i tore sarge apart and got started on the body work

yota axles, mmmm

got ahold of MThead for some killer beadlock rings to match my 1:1.. still not sure on tires yet as i run BFG KM2's and flat irons just dont really perfom how i want but we'll see.

more soon!

my buddy joeyf got started on the hilux body and cut, glued and made the rear window area and got one fender on..

i used his measurments and cut out a rough rear fender to see how it would look.. im going to use the old bed as it is bobbed and drop bed anyway... i was going to meadia blast the paint off so the plastic adhears better

used the old thread trick and hacked the old round fenders off

Looking good so far. Are you going to put dents in the body like the 1:1?

I was thinking about it.. but the time in the body I'd rather just leave it straight... I may cut out half doors ..my plan it to run a tcase so a full interior is in order

Body work is looking great so far. I would keep the doors if you wanna match your 1:1 IMO. Since that was direction you were going in unless you plan on cutting up the real one . Can always cut later to.

Nice work so far and looking foward to seeing more.

started stacking and glueing sheets to form the front fenders

there was some filling that needed to be done.. i might add more styrene in some areas to fill more with plastic and not just bondo

needed some extra patchwork on the inside on the seams... just incase she takes a flop like humpty dumpty, i dont have to pick up the peices... have my rubba neck driver holding things up!

then awhile later i decided to try my hand at forming the front fender... it still needs more sanding but i think the look is there!? what you guys think??

i mocked it up to where the bed was so i wouldnt have to adjust as much with the wheel base but im thinking i may need to take it back some as i already drilled an extra hole in the leaf spring and moved it about an 1/8" forward.. i could build it like this but it would rub alot...thoughts? i am also going to be building a custom spring hanger for the front and that might pull the axle forawrd more... i like the bed where it is because the axle lines up on the wheelwell

i personally, would push the front axle as far foward as possible. leaving the body where it is.

Yea it just sucks because I'm already beyond the center of the arch.. i need to fab a spring hanger and see what that does

The rings are sick! and the body work is spot on. Keep it up...I love the scaled down builds. Best of both worlds!
