| MUF's First Build U4 Based Trail Rig
Guys I am very happy to post my first build thread on our beloved RCC! I loved the look of Ballistic's MZ U4 rig and decided to start ordering parts. I love the overall look of the MZ Chassis but wont be racing. I thought I could build a decent trail rig from it so that starts this build........ I have several V2 axials and wanted to run curries but needed a servo mounted on the axle. I ended up ordering some aluminum housings from RC Mart. Overall they are very nice quality and all of my SSD components fit perfectly! Picked up some VP spools and 12.9 hardware Picked up a very nice UC Fab servo mount which fit perfectly! Highly recommend this mount if you need the steering on axle set up.... All buttoned up and I couldn't be happier with the how the axles turned out! Will be posting more as parts role in and progress is made..... |

Ok some parts started rolling in for this thing. I picked up a new AX2 tranny but im going to go a different route. I really like the AX2 and its butter smooth but want something a tad lighter. This thing will be going up in the for sale section soon. I picked up some VP, BDW, Super Shafty, and LURC goodies for transmission duty. I am happy with the outcome..... My wheel and tire combo showed up and I remembered I had to fix this crazy nose in the air stance. I added an internal spring and made a few other adjustments and perfect! I also have been working on my garage. The garage thing is fun but time consuming...... I also slapped on another set of wheels to compare and make some decisions. Stance is much better! I picked up some lexan for panels and I need to put the chassis in my media cabinet so I can weld in a winch/battery mount, some electronic trays, some more bracing, and I might add a few tubes to change up the look a slight bit. Which wheels look best to you guys? |

I like those front wheels better. The build overall is great.

Coming along nicely. I'm liking the front wheels also. And if you're interested I have a set of cardboard templates for the panels. I could send them to you if you'd like. Just PM me.

The frame is very nice but can stand for some reinforcement and new shock mount. Stripped the powder....... | ||

made progress yesterday on the chassis. Removed the shock? fab tabs Lue had in place..... Made a more fitting and durable front shock hanger. Killed 2 birds by tying the shock mount into the frame. Started on a lipo/electronics tray..... Its starting to take shape. Finally I added 2 drop bars behind the cab for safe being Next up is to rigid up the front end every so slightly......and possibly a few other mounts etc. |

I opted to go a different route with axles for this rig. I will use the 44's on another build. Picked up some nice Super Shafty built OG scx axles. Hit the chassis with some paint and put it back together. During mock up I hit my first snag. One of the chassis reinforcements I added interfered with the servo horn during articulation. I tore everything back down and fixed the issue. Full stuff and she clears very nicely. I picked up some TSS goodies. The new brass AR60 knuckles are super nice. Panels and dash are cut and painted.. I will get some more pics up soon. Last edited by MUF DVR; 05-03-2017 at 03:54 PM. |

Looking good. That's the same axles I run on mine.
