| ********** the kracken rebuild ********* So I built this rig for the Utah vs Vegas showdown. It as preformed awesome but lacked scale points. Well over the last couple weeks I have been adding points left and right for nationals. So first off lets start off with a parts list Parts list Killer Kustomz narrowed wraith axles vanquish lockers front and rear over drive and under drive gears vanquish knuckles and c's and lock outs axial tranny with harden steel gears mip drive shafts Killer Kustomz carbon fiber wheels pitbull rock beast with closed cell foams KMS extreme winch tekin fxr for winch control epic 19t hand wound holmes hobbies brxl jr 8711 steering servo kustom vacuum formed interior with wraith seats I am sure I am missing some thing. Here are some before and after pics. It was a truggy before and has a tube bed with floor and hilux bobbed bed sides. More to come in next couple weeks. Just bought a tig welder so I plan on still doing alot more fab work. |

Great comp yesterday. So I got started today on rebuilding the kracken again needed to build it to have a frame. I don't like how high the belly is on the axial chassis. So the next option was to build my own c channel frame. Here is how I did it I came up with a drawing to match what I had. Then started mitreing 1/2 square tubing the the shape. Then welded all the joints up. Took it the band saw and split it in to two pieces doing it this way we know both sides are exactly the same. Any way here are some pics. Would have more done but at 4pm the power went out and hasn't come back on yet. |

I got a lot done today. During the week I decided I want the chassis different so I started over. and today got the shock hoops done and started on the rear tube bed. Before I started this project I bought the Eastwood pro tig 200 and it does amazing been a lot of fun building this rig. Here are some pics. What do you guys think. Should I change any thing? |

thinking I am going to change the rear shock section a bit. but here is my scale rule question for the day If I run hilux bobbed bedsides and a floor but no wheel wells or tailgate is it a full body for scale points?

Any how got some updates got my chassis mounted and some of the interior cage done. Also prototyped a new light weight seat. Need to change some things to make it more proportional. It moved during the out cut and kinda chopped the top off. Any how here are some pics. |

Thanks JJ and Robert, Its been alot of fun tig welding this one. Thanks for getting me hooked on it JJ. Finished the interior cage and got the tube bed done. Also got the rear body mounted need to find a hilux bed so I can make new side panels the ones I have are a little to short. Will be starting on the rear bumper, interior and electronics mounts this week depending on how work goes sounds like its going to be a crazy week. Was thinking that I would try to cnc most of the interior out. Still debating on putting a floor in the bed. So the question is do I have to have wheel wells to get the points. I don't think so cause they have points for inner fenders. Also does my hood count as a functional item since it opens or does it have to be hinged. The only thing I thought about after is that my internal cage mounts to my tube shock mounts. Does anyone see that as a problem? Any how here are some pics |
