Default My LR3 transformation

Well I bought this body along with a range rover sport body for my scx10 to build my first class 1 comp scaler never done any comps so I'm kinda going off of pictures I've seen on here and the rules I found so first I had to shorten the wheel base from 12" to 10.5" I just took my axial aluminium links cut them down and re tapped them with a 3mm tap once that was all done I had to shorten my drive shaft by just cutting it with body scissors it took awhile but they got the job done lol. Then I had to figure out how I wanted to mount the body I really wanted to go post less and use kind of a tamiya body mount set up but the body was to flimsy so I just ended up putting posts through the roof and hood still Dont like the idea but it will work for now... then after the body was mounted I wanted to keep my winch hidden and just have a fairlead showing so I cut some flat metal drilled some holes for the winch to mount to and welded the metal to the chassis due to lack of extra bolts and patience lol.. now that's pretty much where im at with this project I have some trex60 axles in the mail along with some fender flares to make the tires legal. Speaking of tires I forgot to add those in there I bought (5) 1.9 Mickey Thompson Baja MTZs @4.19 od and (5) RC4WD white 1.9 wagon wheels with (4) gmade red hubs

Well once all the link and chassis mounting the servo was done its time to test fit the body and see what I need to cut to clear the tires I used the ripsaws because they are larger than the mtzs I bought and was waiting for in the mail

Well like I said I'm now waiting on axles and flares so I tuned my suspension some well as much as I could with rtr honcho shocks and got surprisingly way more flex than I did when I had the longer wheel base so I'm trying to figure out what I did to get the truck to flex like that and I put some head lights in now I'm looking for some 3mm taillights

So the range rover sport is around 11.5" wb if I did that correctly right? If you ever want give it up just let me know. Trucks looks good so far also. Also what you could do is take a piece of sheet metal and figure a way to mount them to the shock hoops and use velcro to hol the body on. That's what I plan to do with my silverado.

Thanks man I love this LR3 body and I thought about a Velcro setup but wasn't too set on trying to figure a way to mount it to the shock hoops lol but I just measured the RR sport body and its a 10.5 wb as well and I got this body for my ol' lady so its up to her if shell get rid of it but if the price is right I know she will ;) she's not too into crawling lol

Hmm looks like I would need to shorten the wheelbase on my tf2 for it to fit. What's the "Right" price? lol

Ditto on wanting to take the body off your hands, I'll pay good money for one that's complete(like it appears yours is. I finally got one of these(unfortunately missing the driver side headlight lens) a few weeks ago and would kill for a spare. PM sent!

Also, I'm not trying to dissuade you from building it but what ever you do don't cut it up like you did the LR3. It took me 3 years to find one. I've found that a 3.3 is about the biggest tire to fit the wheel well without modification. I originally planned on doing something similar with yota axles but found out that my TA-02 touring car chassis I've had set aside for an LR3 build a is nearly perfect fit.

Haven't heard of it before but it looks like it's an alternative WD40 right? I would use marine grease for all gears.
