| Just another Yota, with more broke amature Fabwork.
Last winter I threw this together. Nabbed the body off a member here. just wasn't performing the way I wanted it too. **disclaimer It's been a Long time since I've started into any kind of build for a rig. I forgot how to document a build. Got on a roll and forgot to take many pics. Also don't Crit me to hard on my welds. It's all done with a flux core wire feeder. They aren't pretty, but they'll hold. Going to clean everything up with a dremel, grinder, and set of files once I deem it finished. alright, enough yappin' on to pics. 40097796_517053398745424_3417483345460723712_n by Stihlskyhigh 40273324_1142554092550720_2155404598485975040_n by Stihlskyhigh Soo..off came the bed, also switched to my old pitties. 20190122_131324 by Stihlskyhigh made it Tilt for easy battery access, also No body clips. I hate body clips, always loosing them and such. 20190121_202307 by Stihlskyhigh incorporated sliders, also double as the cab mounts. 20190122_161528 by Stihlskyhigh few more bits added. 20190122_204747 by Stihlskyhigh 20190122_204806 by Stihlskyhigh *blurry apologies. Added a tool box hanger, and trying to decide on how I want to mount the spare. 20190122_214038 by Stihlskyhigh 20190122_214052 by Stihlskyhigh some bench flex. 20190122_214128 by Stihlskyhigh Didn't get any pics, but added inner fender bars and some floor bars. Planning on doing a wood floor on the bed. Also debating on leafing the rear end of this or not. Haven't decided yet. Took it outside for a shakedown run, pleasantly surprised how planted it is. The low weight in the rear helps this rig Bite. 20190124_081954 by Stihlskyhigh the tail lights are subject to change, I just threw 'em on there. 20190124_081929 by Stihlskyhigh 20190124_082214 by Stihlskyhigh 20190124_082240 by Stihlskyhigh That's it for now. Will try to do better on the documenting. Thanks for lookin'. keep it Scale and take 'er easy! Last edited by quinn_thercdude; 01-24-2019 at 12:59 PM. Reason: title change. |

Metal work looks right at home on that little yota... One question.. is that a plastic bumper in the back?

Photo was taken while I was working on the toolbox hanger. It wasn't level. Also was still considering the spare mount. 20190122_214142 by Stihlskyhigh

I think it's cool, the lines are a bit different than usual. Do you plan to paint it?

I like how you integrated the sliders, and also the tilt for battery access. Clever.

Well this is rad. Was just reviewing class 1 rules. Once I get this thing some 4.19" tires, I'll be totally class 1 legal. Wasn't totally sure about this due to pinched corners on the bed itself. Hopefully This rig and myself Find a way to a good scale comp one of these days. Would love to see how I fair. |

Picked these up yesterday from a fella locally. Ar44 leaf spring perches. 20190125_163458 by Stihlskyhigh What a mess...Tore apart the front of my gmade sawback (more on that later). 20190125_172237 by Stihlskyhigh Had to shave a couple thousandths off to get the top plate to fit over the perches. Also added a bit of an angle to get the pinion angle right. But here they are all mounted up. 20190125_194443 by Stihlskyhigh Drilled them, and mounted up the springs. 20190125_212939 by Stihlskyhigh All bolted up! 20190125_225902 by Stihlskyhigh That's as far as I got last night. But more to come today! Thanks for the kind words everyone. Means a lot to me. Stay tuned! |

We'll see how long that lasts.. I do look forward to shaking the legs on this thing and seeing what it's capable of. Here's an update. Albeit not the biggest one. Spent most of the day cleaning up welds, straightening and tweaking things out. Still a bit of tweaking in a vise left to do. But oh well, when everything hand bent in a Vice, cut with a hacksaw, and filed..Things tend to take a while. Putting a ton more attention to detail into this build then I have on builds previous. Taking my sweet time with it. But looking forward to getting on to the interior and chassis work. Going to work with what I got, but hoping to find a way to squeeze a full interior in this thing with a cage. Anyways onto pics from today. Bit of bench flex since there isn't a lot of progress from today. 20190126_232553 by Stihlskyhigh Pretty sure I'll get away with class one? Also added in the wheel well frame bits. Yeah...Yeah, I know. booger welds. But I can guarantee not one is ever going to let go unless thrown off a cliff. Haha. 20190126_232539 by Stihlskyhigh Up travel is a bit stiff still, but these springs have almost no run time on them. 20190126_232434 by Stihlskyhigh Man I suck at photography, the tire is parallel to the wheel well arch, just off angled photo makes it look wrong. In my defense, my phone is from 2014. 20190126_232251 by Stihlskyhigh Top down view. Can see the new rear bumper I made up for this. Wasn't really keen on the other bumper I had on there. Also just now noticing I gotta tweak the toolbox hanger over just a tad. 20190126_232231 by Stihlskyhigh another view of that bumper. just a simple flat stock bumper face. Need a place to put signals and lights, also Won a scale plate from Van0rd customs off his last Live stream. So when that arrives I now have a good place to put it. Will be adding a removable hitch to it as well. 20190126_232209 by Stihlskyhigh Socal lean. Raked cause of the front body mount, need to redrill and lower it down a touch. 20190126_232745 by Stihlskyhigh 20190126_232123 by Stihlskyhigh 20190126_232702 by Stihlskyhigh Any and all comment welcome. Thanks for lookin' More to come! Stay tuned Keep it Scale and Have Fun!

Looking good. I don’t know if it’d help on a project like this, but here’s a small and cheap bender. I use one on links so that they’re the same. https://www.harborfreight.com/tubing-bender-3755.html |
