Need more length on those sway bar links... other than that looks killer.

Szczerba 05-23-2014 11:30 PM

Thanks, It's not at final ride height right now, ill adjust all that later. The springs are losi 1.2's and will probably be too soft. All just mock up right now. Went with second from lightest blue rpm pistons too. Not sure which pistons ill end up with when its ready to roll.

You remember that ol' rig? I plan on topping it with this one. Or getting close.

Here is the rig we are talking about.

Think a mix between a 1700 and a 3700 class jeepspeed rig. Plan on making this one able to hit the trail or the U4 track.

That was a cool rig too. I looked at it several times and have subscribed to it for reference. I wont be coping the long arm front suspension setup. Lol

All I am waiting on is the 3/16" tube and a few odds/ends parts but there are things I can do now. The shock setup is going to be interesting, as I have never used these two stage pistons and it took me about 2 hours to get them installed but I think they will be worth it.

Cant post without a picture of some sort

Yeah it was. It was a shame I had to sell it. That Twin I beam setup was a big PITA, but it performed great when I had it setup correctly. Feel free to try it though if you want! I'll help you out as best as I can. "thumbsup"

I wish I could give you some advice on the stage pistons but I haven't messed with those either. I bet they would be great for a heavy rig though.

Solid axle's for this build. :ror: there are 6 RPM pistons to choose from. Let's call them 1-6, 1 being lightest. I put in #2 front and back to start with and 35 wt oil as it recommends.

That's a good plan to stick with :ror:

I think the pistons would be great for fine tuning. Especially with the softer springs that you have installed. Or at least they look it.

Tires will stay, honcho bumper may get replaced with a dingo front bumper or a welded one.

I will probably end up going with 20wt oil and the lightest pistons. I built 4 other shocks for my 2.2 wraith today and learned some things. Also been texting with Almighty Malach about RPM and MIP piston setup "thumbsup"

Still waiting on the 3/16" tube and some other parts to show up.

i find RC trucks like to have a bit of weight about them when it comes to properly functioning suspension. would you agree? or does it very much depend on the shocks themselves?

You are correct but it really depends on how good you know how to setup suspension, weight distribution and shocks/springs. It does depend on the shocks as well, I am learning not to skimp on shock quality or setup. I think a heavier "thrown together, not tuned" rig can be a "band aid" for a lighter weight, correctly setup truck, if that makes sense. But heavy rigs can work great too, when setup for it. I had a 7.25lbs custom twin hammer that had a 6oz scale LS1 out back and it worked awesome in 2nd fast runs, blasting around the ultra4 track or in 1st gear crawling in the trail.
