I am still working on my C1 Gremlin but I just found this great deal on a Pacer Roller over on Scale4x4 so I had to grab it up while I could. I wasn't sure I'd ever find one of these rare bodies but to have both of them now is awesome! This thing is pretty sweet with custom bumpers front and rear and sliders. Also looks to have custom shock hoops. I'm not sure who made it but it looks like they did a great job. Can't wait to get this thing in my hands and start working on it, now I just need to decide which one is going to Utah with me in April. And a quick pic of it's brother... I haven't really had too much time to work on this car yet but I did find some time today to change out the wheels and to put some internal springs in the SCX shocks. I went with a 50/50 set up on the shocks to lower the car down a bit, looks much better now. For wheels and tires I mounted up some 1.9 Gear Head Slot Mags and Mickey Thompson MTZ tires. Next my plans are to tie some tube fenders into the front and rear bumper and sliders to help protect the body some more. |

I love the Pacer, but that front bumper has got to be modified so that you can make the headlights functional. Great find, though. Tappa who? |

I've been looking at the front bumper and figuring out how to lower the top tubes so the headlights are exposed. I'll probably de braze it and lower the two outer hoops. I would also like to remove the black glass and give it an interior and brass roll cage. |

I agree it would be nice to make the headlights functional, but at the same time a rare body like that has to be protected. Looking at the pictures, if the bumper is lowered I looks like the body will take all of the impact in a roll over

I say make hoops that go up high enough to clear the lights so you don't lose any protection for the body. And I didn't think about you not wanting to add lights to avoid cutting up a body. That is entirely your call. You could also do a rally-style light pod, then attach it with double-sided tape. As long as it isn't obscured by the bumper. ;) Tappa who? |

I do plan to have LEDs in the head and tail lights. I'll have to play around with the front bumper a bit. As for the body I'm not too concerned since I build my rigs to be driven.

I took a little time today to work on the Pacer. I started on my tube fenders and got the drivers side done before I ran out of tubing. I also brazed up a fuel cell I found here on RCC and then updated an exhaust I made last year so it would work on the Pacer. Exhaust: I'm still not sure how I'm going to change up the front bumper if I even try, we'll see. Last edited by bmuzz1; 12-31-2013 at 08:10 PM. |

Looks good Brian! As for the front bumper, those outside hood need to go up higher before curving down to the main hoop if you want to keep that style and clear the lights, otherwise I'd just make it a stinger style bumper but keep it short.

I woke up this morning with a vision and a plan in mind so I got right to it. First thing was to braze up the other rear tube fender I had made yesterday, I still have to fab up the passenger front when I get more tube. Next on the list was to tackle the front bumper. I de-brazed the outer hoops so I would have no choice but to continue. Here's what I came up with. I'm pretty happy with the final product. BEFORE: AFTER: I also trimmed up the rear body just a bit so it would not hang down below the rear bumper and interfere with the exhaust. Last edited by bmuzz1; 01-10-2014 at 07:16 AM. |

I was cleaning my work area this afternoon and found enough tube to complete the missing tube fender and while I was at it I decided to add a fuel filler tube. The tube work is now done on this project. Next on the "to do list" is paint and then I'll figure out where I want to place the electronics. |

Tube work looks great Brian, I am guessing the fender flares didn't work out ?

Nope, the body has too much curve to it for the flares. Thanks! |
