| Go4Broke Class 3 Evolution...Let's see where this takes me!
Hey there fellow scalers! After getting home from last weekends AWSOMELY EPIC East Coast Scale Challenge I have some projects to work on for next year! Last night I stripped off my SCX-10 Honcho. I decided to bolt them into the new Wraith chassis. This will become my Class 3 entry for next years event. As I was digging into the Wraith I discovered a VP CMS mount already bolted in! All I had to do was trim off my servo tabs a little, and bore out the inside of the holes to mount with the included hex screws. Once I got all the links bolted in I was able to get a good look at what changes I'll need to make. These are the 12.3" WB links right off my honcho...which on the Wraith ended up a 14" WB. The front will need completely new links, and I have to buy the remaining parts to add a Panhard Kit. I'll need to get some taller shocks, and some new 3s LiPo's for this rig. I'm calling it "Evolution G4B" mostly because I never thought I'd move on more than 2s LiPo! Lots more to do, as well as investing in some knuckles, and hubs from Vanquish, I've got Beef Tubes going in that I got last weekend at the event! Folks I've never gotten this deep into a scale truck build so any input, any problems you've encountered, or comments are greatly appreciated! 2015 ECSC Here we come! |

After some further thought, and some YouTube exposure I'm changing the direction of this build...class 3 might be just a little too much for me so this rig is gonna be class 2! After enjoying some of the videos from Harley's channel, I decided to fit the wraith frame to my scx10 chassis rails. The first thing was rebuilding the front axle with beef tubes...then rebuilt my transmission, and installed it in reverse to let the wraith interior clear. Here's where I ended up last night! A long way to go yet, but gotta start somewhere. I still haven't quite finished with the fitment of the body, and I am thinking of investing in a GCM motor mount, with T-case setup along with CMS/Panhard kit for the front. |

Great start and a good choice to drop it down a class You might want to take a look at Toyzuki's Motor mount set up, you don't need to buy and additional T case for it so there is some cost savings and it also sets the motor lower than other similar divorced T case set ups. He is also working on a new frame set-up that will work with scx skids and wraith skid, that would allow you to bolt the wraith cage on super easy and still give you the frame rails needed for C2 regulations. Keep it up, ny buddy has a wraith/scx conversion and it is a super capable rig. |

Started on new body mount setup...kinda like a full size truck. I've got 3 more to go! Two parts which will get brazed together. |

A couple months ago I invested in CI Deuce's Wild foams for my 1.9" Rock Beast tires...I love em! Had to test em out with something far heavier than they would encounter on my rig... Another thing I've been doing over the last month is a Vanquish CMS with Panhard, and 3 link...Since it's gonna be running in the RC4WD Scale Challenge this year I'm bumping up the scale points, and FINALLY getting that servo off the axle! Compressed... Drive shaft angle finally keeps above the links... |
