Default Imthatguy's Toyoyo Bland Cruiser Tuber

I contacted a man who builds nice tubers, to build me a tuber. His name is Jason Wall, and he's built a couple of pretty amazing rigs in the past. Most recently the Mangler, featured in RC Car Action a couple months ago.

I had a cool Toyota Land Cruiser body sitting around and I instantly knew what I was hoping to achieve.

He took my ideas and sent me some pictures.

Still a work in progress, but I can tell you that it's got GCM Metalhead axles with offset pumpkins, all metal links and a lot of bent metal.

More to come!

Wondering if he accidentally put a "b" in front of his land cruiser tuber.

Thanks, Jason did some amazing things with metal here. He's got a little bit of sanding to do, then he'll ship it my way, so I can finish the body, interior, paint, etc.

I like the "oh shit grips" in the upper corners, clean build, can't wait to see how you hide the wiring and such

Copious came up with a brilliant idea for propane tanks. May be a great place to hide some of the electronics too. Those of you that have dogs may recognize these things. Once I've modified it to look more like a propane tank, you'd be none the wiser.

are you saying its ALL solid? it looks to me like some solid down lower but tube up high. you can see in one pic where the one side goes from really shinny to what looks like tube.

beside the point that thats bad ass either way just really made me look twice when you said all solid cause i thought for sure it was mostly tube!!

thats some of the cleanest work i have seen

No apologies, it's a combination of solid and tube. I can't tell you the breakdown as I don't have it in hand yet. Glad you're digging it, Copious does fantastic work. I can't wait to get my hands on it to get all the detail and body work done.

And now, some posts from Copious himself:

Well Finally got around to changing the lights out in the photo area and took some better pics,

So there are several steps that wont be showcased in photo's such as the untempering, cutting, welding, grinding, straightening and retempering of each axle shaft to accomidate the offset metal heads wich are absolutely insane!!!!!

Here are a few shots of the 10+ Threaded mounts welded to each axle housing to mount suspesion bits to......

The fron axle is set up to be a 3 link with panhard par and chassis mounted steering. The multi color links are a suprise for Matt so don't say anything to him please.......shhh

I really hope your digging the rig Matt

Also un captured on film is the same treatment I did to the Manglers chassis rails. I took two sets of Axial SCX10 frames and heated and beat into submission a shape that looked more like an FJ frame......Then I remembered we decided on a tubed rear and cut the rear half off. Here are a few pics of the cage work that flowed out of the awsome machine......

A few poser flex shots to ensure FULL SUSPENSION Travel without the rubber bump stops........

Aaaaaaaannnnd a few shots of how the Propane tank clamps are done and will work.......

These clamps will be bolted to the bed the same way a 1:1 would be.....

What an awesome build! This is just some sick work... I love the old land cruisers, they are so awesome looking.

Is the body from a Tamiya kit? And what are you going to use for you powerplant and transmission?

Thanks for sharing!
