Default Driveshaft opinions

Looking for a good driveline for my scaler, don't want to break the bank getting it either lol. What is a good choice for high angle driveline? I currently have a truck I purchased already built but had some binding issues with the rear shaft it's an integy metal cvd driveshaft in rear looks to be a modded mini revo shaft in front and another traxxas style shaft from the transmission to tcase. The transmission and tcase have metal outputs installed but plastic shafts. I will be running a HH BRXL,HH13t pro on 3s. Should I get all metal shafts? Will plastic take the abuse?

I've always had awesome luck with the stock 2.5 Traxxas maxx shafts. Cheap and don't seem to break. First and foremost I would fix the driveshaft angles though if that is what is causing the binding.

The angles really seem to be at less of an angle than with the stock transmission installed? May just be a bad cvd for the rear not sure that's why I would like to replace them. The 2.5 traxxas shafts are you talking about the old style emaxx shafts?

mips are nice but way over priced and RC4wd are JUNK only for looks
Traxxas is good but for the price Junfac are the best on strength and drive angle

About: Drive Shafts ~ I always thought the stronger the better but then,
I heard just a good set of plastic ones Will do because,
Would you rather strip the gears in your transmission or axles,
Or just replace a $15. Set of drive shafts. ~ Makes sense to me.
I have used Axial AX10 Wild Boar / WB8 Universal Driveshafts
On my scaler and never had a problem,
And you can cut them to the length you need very easily with a Dremel.

If I were you Id just go with the heavy duty T-maxx shafts. They offer more angle than the others out there and are a lot cheaper. Super tough, lightweight and should never break with brushed power. Part number 4951X for the shafts and 4927X for the yokes.

Going to look into the junfacs. Where do you measure from to get your shaft measurement? Output shaft tip to output shaft tip?

I abuse my junfacs and they are holding up great. Had one come apart on me one time. I dont know how though. The pin was still in it. ? Weird.

Did the snap ring come off?

Nope. It was right before a comp. it stumped 5 or 6 people. The only way they can come apart is for that pin to come out and for that the snap ring has to move. I still dont understand it. I did lose the barrel that the pin went through but that doesnt hep make sense of it.

I have found the junfacs to bind and not allow the suspension to cyle properly when under a load or heavy torque. Hold the two havles in your hand sometime when they are out of the rig, twist them in opposite directjons and try to compress them. You will notice a bind for sure. Way more so than most all other axles. Its the d shape of the slip joint cuaseing this. All the load is transfered to those points. Wildboars, mip, traxxas are all splined for a reason.

However, they do work well in a situation where the telescoping nature is not needed like in a divorced set up from trans to tcase.

Ahhh yes, the mechanical subtleties of RC. I noticed the same issue as soon as I got a set. I was thinking how many times you have a tire hanging and want it to settle down and something like a bound slip yoke on a drive shaft wouldn't let it happen some times unless you let off the gas and roll back.

I ended up using them just as you suggested, as a t-case drive shaft. Ended up welding the slip because they got really sloppy over time.

I havent noticed that but i could definately see that happening. Migh put some lube on there to help combat the issue.

Have you guys ever tested like I mentioned above ? It only gets worse in the rig once you understand what is really happening.

If you do use lube on any part exposed to the elements make sure it is a dry lube. Anything else will attract the dust and crap and make things even worse. Lube on the d line may help some as a bandaid fix. There are better drivline options out there if you are looking for performance.
