| ESC winch controller
Hi all I have been into rc crawling for about two years now and am finally getting around to make a servo winch. I want to use my old castle sidewinder 3 as the controller. For some reason my dx4r auxiliary channel will not control it. Has anyone done this before that can help me? Thanks in advance! |

Yes, plenty have used ESC's as a winch controller. How are you wiring it? Is your 4th ch set to 3 position control? |

Stupid question maybe, but have you calibrated your sidewinder to the auxiluary channel of your dx4r? Being a Castle ESC it definately needs to recognise a neutral signal before arming. So best switch the sidewinder on while you apply "full throttle" on your aux channel, wait for the chime, full brake, wait for chime, neutral, wait for chime, wait a bit more until it chimes some more and is armed. If that doesn't work try reversing the aux channel in your radio and try to calibrate it again. I had that problem a few times myself, not aux channel specific but in general, the ESC just wouldn't calibrate and arm itself until I reversed said channel. Apart from that: Isn't that Sidewinder 3 a bit on the enormous side for a simple winch ESC? |
