I originally built this for the OK RC4WD Champs. Threw it together in about 2 weeks with a honcho body, steel back half and such. It was right around 5lbs and I beat it like a rag doll.

It had an Ally cage that was getting beat up and I was never happy with the overall stance or weight placement.
Then I took it to Utah..... Them Utards are mean...

So I wanted a tube design that was still some what light up top but overall I could adapt it to any body. Like an F-Toy

Because of the front 4link and the motor and drive shaft wanting to share the same place, getting this pig to belly dragger status was an endless game of changing things till I got it where I wanted.

It can now sit just below 2in at the front of the skid and still have full steering throw. I am most likely going to shorten some scx10 shocks for the final rebuild, scale power strokes in the rear both on losi miniT springs and limited/strapped to my liking to control unloading.

Now the fun part! Can I melt my finger prints off before I finish the cage?

Cool! At least you're building it out of metal. Excited to see how this turns out.

What did you do for a front driveshaft to keep it from hitting the actual motor? I'm having the same problem and I like to have mine belly dragger status too

SDI drive shafts - super small and easy to modify.

Got some work done...
While trying to tuck 1.9 LURC rims over wraith knuckles I needed to either countersink the steering arm screws or this..... Washer brazed to 3mm set screws.

Cage Work!!
I made this setup table long ago, works a charm to setting right angles and such.

I am trying to avoid using welded nuts as much as possible.

Zip ties and duck tape...

Now we have a base to build from. Solid rod and square stock. The square stock is drilled to be tapped for 2mm scale bolts.

Bottoms set, time for the top....

And a little mock up to get an idea of the scale...

I need to figure out a few size and placement issues before I burn it in. I made it on the smaller side, sitting at 6.5in wide and 4.5in high. Left the body lines square vs angled with the skid and the usual 12.5wb.
With this I can set my track width 10in to 9.5in and still be legal.... still debating that part also.

A local buddy cuts delrin on the side, VaderProducts and Ive always wanted a smaller skid....

I will most likely cut even more material off and then round the bottom edges

Then just because...

Also drilled and tapped the motor mount to also hold the winch. Now routing the winch line will be so much fun.

More cage work in the next couple days.

I fought this back end for what seems like forever... I tried the normal rear hoop, tapered, flat bed, blah blah blah
Finally pulled the trigger on a simple 2 angled bars.

Simple and straight forward, which was the plan for the whole truck. Ill add the rear down bars, cut the shock mounts off the frame and weld some on tomorrow.
