Default Vaterra ascender mudder

I have had a thread over on rc sparks for a while and figured I'd bring it here. It started as an rtr and after a few years I've actually started using and upgrading it. So far it has:
Vaterra hd driveshafts
Rc4wd 27t motor
Traxxas 16t pinion
Mg996 servo (waterproofed)
Battery relocated
Duct tape fenderwells.
Flysky 3channel tx/rx
A crazy redneck holding the controller

This is a build thread and is a work in progress. Right now haven't broken anything severely in the last few runs.

I do have one question and that is the mg996 servo I have is supposedly high Tourque. It is quite wimpy on my k5. Would a bec fix that and can someone give me the rundown on what a bec is.

Love seeing a blazer in the mud

Ive had 3 of those servos. 1st one was bought many years ago, and was pretty good. The last 2 were bought about a year and a half ago and are garbage, 2 couldnt turn the wheels on my brushed revo. They were weaker than the stock 125oz traxxas units. I believe they are a clone of a clone of a unit that used to be a cheap solid servo....

I would suggest getting another servo first. I have a savox 0251. Under 40$ and plenty strong. I think the wp version is 0231, still round 40$ no external bec needed...

I thanks. Might look into that if I ever decide to do actual crawling or if it starts bothering me enough.

Moved my battery back to the front with the help of Velcro and my bungee cord.

Took my rednecked gorilla tape fenders off. Figured the battery will acts as I little bit of a fender.

Now my transmitter won't connect to my receiver. It is bound to it and everyonce in a while it'll pick up the signal and center the servo.

Do I need a new receiver/ transmitter combo? The set I have now must be discontinued because I can't find it on amazon and the receiver won't bind to anything else.

I thought the rx/tx was flysky but neither have the brand on it and the receiver definitely isn't flysky. Should I buy a flysky combo like the gt3b?
