Default "Stuck" on the FJ45

I need another scaler like I need a hole in the head, but after seeing the FJ45 my buddy Travis C built I had to build my own. This is for the most part a parts bin build. I picked up the complete chassis out of the classifieds and I will need a set of tubes, but I had the rest just sitting around.

So far I got the trans built up with the stock case, Robinson gears, BWD motor plate, Avid Bearings and CI outputs.

While talking to Travis about his build he offered up a body he had sitting around. He is the originator of the "Pay it Forward" so I got it for next to nothing. Thanks Travis
Once I finish getting it all painted I'll cut it up into a FJ45

Thanks for looking!

Thanks. I sure hope so.

Got a little more work done this weekend. Im going to give some Vanquish Twin hammers trailing arms a go on this build. To keep the wheel base I want I had to attach the TA's to the upper link mount holes so I had my friend Donny from Bent Metal Customs build me a set of custom link mounts. Once I get the body mounted I will have him finish up the sliders and I will paint them or powder coat them. Used some Y-Town CF shock mounts to get the shocks in the right place and braced it up.

Rear axle is your standard stuff with HR locker, 43/13 R&P, Stock shafts, Avid bearings, Steel tubes and a Duuuuude link mount. Upper links will be drilled for M4 and revo rod ends. That M3 stuff wont cut it Also going with the WB8 drive shafts. Upper links were hitting the rear brace so I also modified the front chassis brace to fit the back for a little more up travel.

Now I need to order up my RcBros tubes to get the front axle done.

Thanks for looking

Finally ordered and received my RcBros Burly tubes. Decided to go Narrow XR mod on this one. Running a HR spool with 36/14 R&P, VP wraith knuckles and C's, Avid bearings and Axial XR universals. Just need to mod one more Uni and I can finish up this front axle

I got the front axle finished up and links made. Went with 40wt in the shocks front an back and fixed em up with all the little tricks to make them leak free (as possible) and butter smooth. Its a roller!

Upper and lower front links bent for clearance. Shocks and links moved out on the axle

Wheels are Knock off 2.2 Methods with 1.9 RC4WD Baja Claws and CI DD foams. Still working on the track width. Ill add the remaining hub screws once I figure that out.

Next up will be the body!

Thanks for looking!

Fj45's are so lame, I don't understand what the fascination is with them. Bunch of people stuck in yesteryear or something, I'd never build one... or two... or three.

Looks like a good start even though it's for a Toyota.

I was hoping you'd get my sense of humor and not get mad at me. Lol

I've only made six FJ45 cabs so far and a few fj40's.

Looking good! Better watch out, you'll end up with more than one.

I haven't quite figured it out yet, but I think they kind of just start happening after a while

Paint looks good, the cab cutting is pretty easy. Make sure you have everything square and even from side to side before you start cutting. I use a sharp exact to scribe the cut lines and keep scoring it with the blade. Once it's got a good depth, I bend it and the lexan breaks clean.

Chop chop!!

Ahh that sounds like a great idea. Especially on the roof where the lexan is pretty thick. Gonna give that a try. Thanks Dean!

I have already cut it in half to make it easier for me to work on. Just need to measure up and make the final cuts. No going back now

The FJ40 has become a FJ45! Initial cut and fit of the cab went fairly well. Still needs some work to get the seams right and then I'll glue it together.

Paint chipped a little while cutting. I'll touch that up before final assembly

Thanks for Looking

Great looking truck and I really like the trailing arms suspension.
