there are really only two to choose from. ta01and ta02 are virtually identical, then there is the cc-01. i'd take the cc-01.

i have a touareg and a the f-150, i think the touareg is more capable for a trail rig, maybe just 4 link the rear and bigger shocks for the front and it does pretty good. IMO

Definitely go with the CC-01. More ground clearance, a more durable drivetrain, solid rear axle, and quite capable in stock form. The TA's are basically converted touring cars and don't like to slow down too much, and they have a few issues (piano-wire driveshaft, fragile motor mount, eating spur gears, lack of clearance). They make decent high-speed trail bashers and good mud rigs (the flat pan floats over the wet stuff like a boat) but the CC-01 is a lot more capable overall, plus the wheelbase is flexible. Pick a 9.5 or 10.5 WB, just cut the driveshaft and move the links.

I have a ta-02 F150 baja and its pretty capable after I locked the rear, the toureg is more more capable though. The best thing about tub chassis is that they make for great snow bank jumpers with about a 20 turn motor this time of year

Do you have any pics of the GD-600 mounted in the CC chassis? I have that gear reduction on the way with my Touareg.

Sort of, but with a solid axle rear end. Here's a pic.

EDIT: CC and XC are the same chassis.

CC-01, TA-01 and the like are crappy touring cars that make even crappier trail rigs.

Ahhhh, this is easy, CC-01 all the way. Watch for a tower coupon and grab one of the Fugly touaregs, it comes with ESC and it's long WB.

I have seen some well built Hummers and stadium trucks but I believe most owners of the TA02 will recommend the CC-01 for trail rigs.

The CC-01 steering can be problematic, My Unimog has the bearing mod and it's alot smoother, I have a Rally Cayenne that is bare bone stock and I just clean the steering shaft every now and than.

GET BEARINGS, don't even bother assembling the rig without them. They are great rigs just like all tamiyas. Not sure which I prefer a 1.9 TLT or a CC-01.

The TA02 makes an awesome Rally platform though and is great for fast stadium trucks, I wouldn't mind having an F-150, maybe once I finish the backyard rally track. The CC-01 also makes a a great Rally platform.
