hells yeah they worked!!

i had to adjust my shocks for a bit longer travel and make new shock mounts higher up, cause they shocks were bottoming out. the leafs were a bit different than my old highlift leafs but theyre much better.

chip cross 05-13-2007 07:05 PM

hiliftcrawler 05-13-2007 08:44 PM

obijuan 05-13-2007 08:48 PM

contact david diaz of diazdesigns in the vendors section, they are the bruiser leafs and are $40 new.

boggercrawler 05-13-2007 09:37 PM

What did you use to bend your square tubing ? I"ve been working on a couple of simalar style frames for a few weeks now and just cant seem to get the bends as clean as yours.

obijuan 05-13-2007 09:45 PM

i have a tubing bender in the garage. its just a leverage style bender and you can basically do the same thing with a vise and a long bar for leverage. start in the middle and work your way out if you are going that route.

boggercrawler 05-13-2007 09:54 PM

Yea a vise is what I've been using, but I'm just not happy with it, maybe I'm too picky. Guess I'll just have to pickup a bender. Thanks man.

Very nice work, I may need to rework my suspension on my Chevy. I did not know you could get that much flex out of the diaz leafs. Exactly "WHAT"."thumbsup"

obijuan 05-14-2007 09:23 AM

if you need pics let me know.

boggercrawler 05-14-2007 12:25 PM

Hey Obijuan thanks for the tip on a bender, grabbed one this morning and bent another frame out and I love it. < super scale clod body K5 build pics coming soon>
One question I had was I noticed on the first page of this build you had the servo mounted on the outside of the frame like on the 1:1 trucks and then you relocated it. What was the problem with the original location?

Shaun 05-14-2007 12:37 PM

That is awesome

foodstamp 05-14-2007 12:46 PM

objuanalito, truck looks sweet, hows that tranny workin out, im tinking about making a 2.2 comp rig, think it would do the job?

atvdude775 05-14-2007 07:11 PM

dang..thats awesome

obijuan 05-15-2007 09:03 PM

boggercrawler: i busted off a servo mounting tab within like 30 seconds after running just the chassis. total bummer, so i mounted it inside for a little bit more protection.

foodstamp: the r2 is so versatile, you can definately start your build with it. build around the r2. it has awesome gearing internally for crawling, all metal and a great ratio. for the marginal price difference to the bulky pede trans, its well worth it IMO.

thanks for the compliments guys. i think soon ill get some sliders and maybe build the bumpers. maybe. ive got a lot of work still ahead of me with this new axle swap. ill keep yall posted

boggercrawler 05-15-2007 09:43 PM

yea axle swaps are a major pita. I just put two Dynatrac 60's on my 89 K5, with two cherry pickers and an ol' school a-frame engine hoist it still took me and a couple frenz two wkends to get em on complete. But it was damn well worth it, with 15x18 welds and 39 inch boggers its rolling like a caddy now. And just a safety tip, when cash allows get some 6 or 8 in rear leafs and get rid of those blocks, I barrel rolled an 02' chev crew cab with an 18" lift on the freeway bout 5 years ago cuz I was runnin 6" blocks in the rear and the u-bolt broke. Very ugly

obijuan 05-15-2007 09:57 PM

dude, i know. i am gonna get a 4" shackle flip and 4" leaf and a zero rate for up front. you seem to have a little cash for a PAIR of 60's OMG. pics pics pics! uhh reference photos i mean... did you ever see these?

boggercrawler 05-15-2007 10:15 PM

Yea pics coming soon of my 1:10 builds as well as my 1:1 builds. I race alchohol blown banshees at the sand drags here in Albuquerque and my wife left the camera there a couple wkends ago. So I gotta grab a new one. Yea I have a couple bucks, I own a towing co. and I dont have any kids, so as long as my wife gets shoes and clothes, I by whatever the hell I want. But still Dynatrac 60's are like 4 g's each and I would never pay that much, I just happened to be at a garage sale with my wife one day and saw a 95 tj with those axles on it, asked about it ,turned out it was the sons truck and he had recently passed away,I asked if they would be interestes in sellind and I towed it away the same day for two grand cash with the Dynas, the stock axles, and a set of 17x10's with 37" Iroks. Put the Dynas on my Blazer, put the stock axles on the tj and sold it for $4500 and just sold the Iroks a couple days ago for $1000. One of the best deals of my life.
