Team garage hack fmm top drive shaft question.

Hello Rccrawler friends.
I’ve ordered a Gspeed v3 and a team garage hack forward motor mount kit, Gspeed says to use a 65-85mm top drive shaft from the motor to the t-case. What have you guys used for this? Super shafty is sold out, I know Topher builds used a boom racing shaft but he said the clearance was super tight. Any other suggestions?

I used a boom racing one with mine. I'm not sure at this point you have any other option. Maybe one of the Ottsix versions, or possibly a cut down axial wild boar.

i recently built a Team Hack Garage Sherpa chassis with the FMM ... similar set up. i used the suggested on the sherpa chassis page ... https://www.teamgaragehack.com/colle...pa-chassis-kit

if you look at the pdf they give you some traxxas parts yokes and shafts ... thats what i used and worked perfect. I have a mamba x and a Holmes revolver on 3s and they are tough and you can cut them to length. therefore adjustable for your application and most of those parts will be likely available at your LHS. Good luck sorting your set up.

I'm running the FMM on my GSpeed V1-C1. I used a Axial WB driveshaft cut down to fit. Slid on a piece of shrink tube to hold it all together.

Was the option to use the traxxas parts pretty straight forward? I’m guessing they need to be cut to fit, what did you use to cut them without it burring up to much?

I used a Axial wild boar HD shaft and cut it down to the bare minimum. I chucked them up in a drill and used a box cutter/razor for a clean straight cut (requires a steady hand). Make sure to spin it the direction that pulls the blade instead of pushes.

If you cut them to the correct length it wont wobble and shouldnt need heatshrink to keep it steady. Since these dont change in length you dont need to leave any slop in the overall length.

Great idea on chucking them up in a drill!

Not sure why I didn't think of that! Yours turned out great and look factory!
