Default Diezel's terrible financial decisions.....

Thanks for the idea twade984... Although I may regret this...

After many years of lurking, and wheeling, and then thinning out my heard and focusing on 2 projects... I present:

Pick n Pull, which started off life as a build from all of the leftovers from my 1.9 scale rig (2nd Gen Toyota 4Runner body, which looks more like my 3rd gen!), and evolved into this - Still considering getting it more true to "scale":

(Link for fullsize photo: https://i.imgur.com/n3w11xQ.jpg)

It's a mutt, that was named: Pick n Pull (It started life as a spare parts and test build).

The guts:
Holmes Hobbies frame rails,
Team Associated Element Stealth X transmission, w/ modified slipper eliminator,
Kimbrough 93t 48p spur,
ProTek RC Lightweight Steel 12t 48p pinion,
Holmes Hobbies Revolver 540 SS 2023 Team Spec 2250kv motor,
RhinoESC AM32 80A,
NSDRC RS1 Servo (8.2v ESC powered),
Sanwa RS-482 receiver,
Treal front axle housing with stock Axial gears and shafts,
Hobbypark Aluminum Skid / Trans mount,
KYX Brass Knuckles,
X-Speed rear axle (for now) - Axial shafts, bearings, and Vanquish AR44 under-drive gears,

Dlux and Incision link arms,
Traxxas TRX 4 GTS shocks up front (no springs, black pistons, 80w oil),
Traxxas TRX 4 GTS Long Body shocks in rear (internal limiting spring, black pistons, 80w oil),
PowMok rear link riser,
ShareGoo 1.9" bead-lock rims (Front has Vanquish brass ring + lead weights on ring, w/ Crawler Innovations Lil' Nova comp cut 4.75" foams. Rear has vanquish foams and aluminum ring),
JConcepts Ruptures on all 4,
Vanquish SLW brass hubs up front,
Stock ShareGoo rear hubs (they're basically a Vanquish SLW 350 aluminum clone),
IERC front bumper,
AliExpress rear flatbed (cut up severely for bob and frame clearance), mounted to a Pro-line Toyota HiLux Half Cab,
Axial side plates and some brand sliders I can't recall....

And now, the fun masterpiece (yet to be named) a Vanquish VRD Carbon:

Welcome to the site! So glad to see you posting up a build thread. Great looking rigs!

You can embed photos from Imgur. I created a tutorial because it is the most unfriendly site to use. See here: Imgur - Embedding and Posting Photos

I like those KYX weights.

Thanks for sharing. The more people post the better imo, and this type of thread definitely wasn’t my idea, but it’s easier to manage imo

Thanks! Happy to be contributing finally. I have another build a Toyota 4Runner that will be as close to a scale clone of my actual 4Runner in the works. Complete with a rare Team Associated Element IFS front end!

I do too, except for 2 facts about them.
  • Getting the bearings out if needed, is a delicate chore as they are machined TIGHT.
  • The lip to separate the inner and outer bearings, are really fragile.
But at the cost level of these and bearings. If you need to replace a bearing that bad, just order a full set of bearings and new KYX weights.

Major thanks for the Imgur tips!

Fair enough, and I agree. Even if they're slightly off topic like mine is here in "scale". Build threads get people motivated as they can see a lot of the work or magic behind how something is done. Eventually after I'm done digging through all my photos and getting things organized I'll add them here.

Great looking rigs and nice upgrade list.

I too have made many terrible financial decisions when it comes to these little bundles of joy we post in these threads!

And, last but not least (for now)....

The Scale 4Runner, whats left of it thus far...

(link for fullsize: https://i.imgur.com/4s1z5EC.jpg)

(link for fullsize: https://i.imgur.com/4qSOWt1.jpg)

Axial Frame rails, skid plate, stock trans, stock rear axle,
Hobbywing AXE FOC w/ 1800KV motor,
Sanwa Receiver,
Incision rear driveshaft,
Team Associated Element IFS front end,
Traxxas TRX4 rear shocks.

To do:
Sliders,
Front Bumper w/ Winch,
Rear Bumper w/ Tire Carrier,
New body,
New front shocks,
Lots of odd n ends to make it right.

Again, was trying to copy this (which was limited at the time, as I couldn't find a 3rd gen 4Runner body anywhere, and still can't at least not in 1/10 scale):
