Default Lunas Rhino

This is my daughter Luna.

She loves to take control over my crawlers whenever she can, so it was clear that I sooner or later have to build something for her.

I will post this build here, because I think it belongs into the scale section, even when its a very special scale .... :-P please have mercy with me, Mike !

Hope to get the electronics in soon and let her do some barbie-bashing .....

(sorry for the blurry pics)

Good idea. I am in the middle of making 2 crawlers for my daughters, for their Barbies. Where did you find the Rhino Body if i can ask. The sticker on the tail gate says Proline but I was unable to find it on their site.

Thanks.

It is Proline, but discontinued. But the chances are good that you will find one .

Its a simple tamiya TA-02 chassis, as used thousand times on those hummers or ford F-150. The good thing is, you can build a very flat chassis with it, for example for a rhino.
I had this idea in my head for a longtime, and I am glad how easy it works. I got the chassis build to this stage in half an hour ...
OK, steering will be a little more complicated but no problem. Also the chassis needs some reinforcement at the axlemounts.

I will run it with a 85Turns Integy to reduce the wheelspeed. I am not sure if I should keep the frontdiff unlocked, to avoid damage to the knuckles and driveshafts.

Thanks, Pete

It is a runner now. The body is fixed with velcro.

Thats big fun:

Now she needs some scalestuff to complete it.

What a cool build... That's thinking out of the box. The look on her face in that pic is worth every penny isn't it?

Thanks for all the kind words. My daughter is very proud now.

Video: Testride

You may notice: I really need to lock the diffs and get a lower gear ratio (is ordered from tamiya).

But the suspension works good for a TA-02. I think this is a scale rhino now !!

Cheers Pete

PS: Get those bodies before they are sold out

Throw in a big fast Brushless system! You can always tune it down with your controller or Mamba Max until she gets better.
