Default 72 Chevy Blazer - OFF my ROCK'RS

I've been having such a good time running trails this winter, even more than messing around on the rocks. I decided another Scale/Trail build would be one of my next big projects. I have what I think is a pretty neat modification on a polycarbonate body using lots of styrene & tube planned, more on that later.
Starting with Old Faithful, a set of TLT Diff's.

Here's the start...

Well did some measurements late last night and think I have the body figured out. Pretty sure I'm going to mod the Proline C10 Chevy and make a early 70's Blazer/Jimmy. Just have to see how the body looks with the wheel and tire combo. Plan on removing the top and possibly making a removable one out of styrene.

The following photos are a few of the reference shots I'll be using for the truck.

Threw together a temp transmission for mock up today, still thinking of a 2 speed setup though. The motor is one of my old 55ts, may be a good mill with the 2spd?
An old set of Frame rails sitting around the shop, been wanting to use a set of these for a while. The TCS Xtrail prototype Delrin version, probably will use it as a guide/template to cut a new modified version out of aluminum. All mounting holes will stay pretty much the same so I can use this for mockup at least.

Had some time to make some cuts, most are complete just have to finish the rockers and trim off the front bumper. I'll do the rest while creating the cage & exo cage.
More than a little dissapointed once again by the location of the rear wheel well, too far back. (much the same as Prolines F100) Considering buying another donor body to cut the box sides out of, will see as I build.

Here's a few mock up pics (this is just temporary wheel and tire combo)

The idea of this one is to basically replace my old FJ, so that being said this will have a full inner and outer cage. Should be a good excuse to build a full interior and add some extra detail.

Your on!
Should have some more finished up over the next few weeks.
Just waiting for my final axle upgrade peices from RPP today,

New aluminum steering knuckles and straight axle adapters are here but still waiting on CVDs and straight axles.

Picked up some cool interior parts too, cant wait to get my hands on this project just waiting on the mail man!

Got one reduced and will get at the other 3 soon enough. I think the aluminum 1.9 Hummer wheels in combination with the reduced 2.2 Rock Crushers will give this thing an agressive look.

Heres some pics

Some photos with the body cut, the door seam will be at the tape line. The overlap you see will be bent around the cage to hold the back half on. Doors are getting removed and will either be tube/soft doors or opening factory doors, havent decided but need to keep them on for mock up. I was hating the body before I altered the wheelbase, now it sits at 11" and I'm lovin the look.
I'm using these wheels on here just for a reference to size, there going on the other Blazer build along with the XTrail Chassis.

I think a tube and black canvas door may be the way I go but we'll see as I go.
I haven't totaly decided on the appropriate tire and wheel combo, but am bashing a few ideas around. These tires got here last week and I'm pretty sure I've got a cool set of rims that would look at home on here. I'm going to try my stock CR01 rims, they look like an old steel 4X4 wheel. At least I can us them for mock up for now. The G-Hawgs look incredible under this body, much like one of the original reference images!
Tube work's on it's way!

I'm working on an 80's Clod bodied Blazer right now too. It came about around the same time as this one. I had too many ideas for one, why not 2 right?
I can give you the link if you're interested.

Cool I'd like to see that I built a 2.2 K5 using the Proline 80' Blazer body, but I'm rebuilding it as a 1.9er and it's gonna be a 80' chevy pick-up now Heres the link to my build http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/showt...93#post1245193
