Outstanding job so far man. How did you get suck clean bends in your metal? Did you scribe it before you bent it? Keep up the good work.

hey guys - thanks for your awsome replies!!

and no worries, i keep you posted on this

...but good jobs need time and patience!!

@crawl rookie
i used 0,8mm aluminium for the tub.
the 2 side panels (doors) are 1mm aluminium.
for the small framebases i use steel sheet because this can be soldered with silver solder to the rods. not possible with aluminium sheet.

@bigdodge88
yes, i first scribe the aluminium sheet once or twice slightly with a stanley-knife, then i bend it, while the groove from scribing is at the outside of the bend!
it seems that 0,8mm aluminium worked best for me with these bends. i tried 1mm and even 1,5mm thickness but that was too thick and heavy, and the bends worked not so nice anyhow. 0,8mm was best for me. and i guess with all that bends in this tub and the full cage it will get enough stability...

@G-crawler
awsome ride man!!! i love it! excellent pics!
SHIT - you bring in lots of new ideas for me was this necessary to post here?
...i think it will take even longer to get mine done.

That thing is awsome!!!! Great sheet work, you should consider tackeling the the fenders and hood out of sheet as well. Hate to see all that work covered in lexan.

update on that “sick crawler” project…

killller baby!
the cage is done finally. and I tell ya – I’m happy with it!!

everything worked out perfect and match exactly the ideas I had in mind.

...sick machine

here some details:

NOT a good idea to use a plate as underlay for soldering!
that thing baadly burst into pieces at the moment i took away the burner

...no worries, nothing happend, just a plate less in my cupboard

unfortunately i have got no stone base or something like that at home.
so the next option was the pan - and it worked great!

and the final touch – the handles, just like the original has

tomorrow i will bring it to powdercoat - flat black!

...still in progress

it's 2am now - i go to bed...
