| Project EXCESSIVE: Jeep YJ tuber
I have been gathering parts for this build for quite a while, and here they are: List: Custom built tube frame HPI Rubicon body Scale Shop YJ Grill (not shown) RC4WD D40 axles RC4WD R2 2-speed transmission RC4WD Killer Transfer Case RC4WD Punisher drive shafts RC4WD Dual rate coilover shocks for the front RC4WD Scale white shocks for rear MSD 2.2 Aluminum beadlock wheels RC4WD Rock Crusher X/T 2.2 tires Mamba Max ESC Integy V10 50T motor Hitec 5998 TG servo Spektrum DX3R radio Spektrum SR3100 receiver It will also get a 3racing winch with Warn stickers, full light kit, custom interior with Recaro seats, and misc other scale accessories. Suspension will be 4 link in the front, with the RC4WD Katan 4-link mounts, and I plan on trying a 3/4 elliptical leaf spring setup in the back. If I don't like it, it will go with normal leafs in the back. Trying to stay as realistic as possible to what a tricked out YJ suspension would have. I've got some 6 cell NiMH stick packs as well as 2C and 3C lipos. I will have to see what fits best. Body will be painted red, with flat black fender flares. Top will be removed, leaving half doors. Now that I've got about everything I need, I just have to figure out the time. My work schedule has been beyond insane lately (gotta work to pay for the toys), but should be slowing down a little in the near future. |

| Good deal! I was wondering who to credit for the chassis build... I picked it up off someone else on here, but he said he bought it off ebay, and who knows where the trail went from there. Anyways, I think it's found a permanent home now. |

Wow that thing is sweet. Nice tube work. Did you weld or braze it?

Thanks guys. I didn't build the tube frame, but it looks to be brazed. It is powder coated with the textured black. |

I finally had some time today to do some more work on this. Got the suspension finished up. I ended up using Axial SCX links in the front, and leaf springs from RC4WD in the back. They are brand new, so they're still a little stiff. I also took out the springs from inside the shocks (they were really stiff). Here are a few pictures: |

Because of the design of this chassis, I'm going a different direction with the drivetrain. I love the little transfer case, but the RC4WD R2 trans fit so perfectly between the frame rails, was extremely easy to mount, and will provide a great mounting point for a skid plate. This also frees up the under hood area for the battery and all electronics, which will be very nice. I did find out that the Punisher drive shafts I have right now are just a little too short. The front comes apart at full droop, and the rear is close. I've got some longer plastic driveshafts with metal yokes I'll run for now, and maybe I'll get some new Punishers some time. I also did some looking around the workshop for interior help, and found a great plastic Jeep body I will be using for a donor. I got it hacked apart with the dremel and set inside the cage. It fits perfectly, clears the transmission, and will be easy to mount, but those seats desperately need a paint job, and it will need a couple extra shift levers. The dash is certainly not a YJ, but I like it anyway, so it will stay. Don't ask me what the body came off of, I have no idea. It was some concept Jeep, and I had nothing but the body. I got a couple of them a ways back, sold one, and kept the other just in case... |

| That is absolutely correct... $20. That's the standard answer you tell your wife when she asks what it cost, right? |
