Default Spider Cuztomz TJ Crawler 2.2

It's slowly starting to look like something now so I figured it would be a good time to start a build thread.

I started the body work a few weeks ago. That was just after I finished cleaning the purple anodize off the beadlocks. I got the rest of the chassis finished as well. The only thing left is to mount the r2d2 trans to the skid plate. I ran into a bit of trouble finding shafts that would work but MIP helped solve that problem. Ill get some chassis and suspension shots later.

Welp, Ive been working on it and frustrating the hell out of myself trying different ideas I had in mind but the material I used for the interior was too thing to actually do what I wanted. I tried another idea that sorta bent it back to straight form but it wasnt what I was looking for so I decided to just go straight plain jane. Its not done yet but here's an update on it.
The body is sitting a bit higher as its only mock up stages.

Did some detail work to the skins and started on making the interior part of the door. Some trail and error work done to a junk left over floor section of the tub.

More to come!!!!

I did a small update and realized after putting the interior doors into the picture, I needed to recalculate all the measurements for the firewall and rear tub section. So much for the previous progress. I didnt plan on added those doors in my initial plans but I think Ill like it much better this way instead of rushing the project and tearing it down to add an interior later.
I had to join two pieces together to make the tube the length I needed. Then did some spot putty to cover up the joint. Still needs a bit of sanding and feathering.
Also added some kick panels just above the door panels pic 2.
Onto the photos.

Well here are some updated pics. I scrapped the whole aluminum tub idea and went another route.
I also made some new suspension links, steering links, servo mounts, and shock mounts. Stripped the purple anodizing off the RC4WD RockStar beadlocks. Purple Blahack!!!! haha! Also added 4 wheel steering.

More to come but for now enjoy the pics.

All the individual pieces made and soon to be read to be installed on the tub

Here I made up a set of aluminum steering Links, Servo mounts,& shock mounts

From another angle showing the new suspension links, servo hardware,& shock mounts.

Rear

Installed some MIP drive shafts along with the RC4WD Disconnect Transmission.

After doing a bit more research on the TJ tail gate, I found out I need to make changes to the inside panel.
Going off memory from my '88 YJ I see its similar but not "dead on".

That will bug me. LOL!

Well been workin on this on and off since the last post. Havent had much time for r/c building since then but did manage the past week to spend some time on it. Onto the photos:

I wanted to do a yj dash instead of the regular tj dash. To me the yj dash just has a better look to it. I still have to make the sides to the dash yet. So hey its a Tj with different jeep interior parts and its still all jeep. LOL! Ive seen CJ-7's with 90's half doors on em hehehehe! I did get carried away with the material for the seats but I dont have access to the seats nor have the time to search for em so I figured why not.
I also started to make custom stone guards for the headlights. This is my first attempt. It came out okay but not to my standards so Ill be redoin it.

Ive been eatin this while I take a break from doin it.
hahahahah!

Has anyone ever worn the mip shafts yet? Im wondering if the angle is too steep on my rig? It seems to spin freely without the motor in. And being a ball and socket shaft it got me wondering if u can actaully wear it out? I would assume the pin wholes would be first to widen and create pin slop.....
But the angle of my shafts are a bit steep but seem to be fine.
Lookin for some info. Please post if u can. Thanks!
