| Finally built a scaler
Will get pictures up tomorrow, but the main components are: -MFM aluminum scale chassis -AX10 axles with rear straight axle conversion, aluminum knuckles, aluminum c hubs, new era aluminum 4 link mount, and crawford high clearance steering link -AX10 tranny w/ 65 turn Integy and rc4wd steel gears -MIP steel driveshafts -Traxxas waterproof servo and XL5 esc -Traxxas TQ3 and receiver -Not positive, but I think the shocks are rc4wd -Axial lower links, and threaded rod/brakeline upper links -AX10 wheels with added weight and rc4wd mud slingers -Proline 72 Chevy long bed body with proline bumpers Wheelbase is 12.75" and overall width is 10". The truck weighed in at just over 6lbs, so not as heavy as I thought but still a tough truck. This truck is heavy and should withstand a good beating. Still need to add a winch and I want to build a rear tube section. Just got done with it tonight and it seems to crawl pretty darn good so far but I need to fine tune the suspension. I cannot wait to hit some dirt, rocks, water, snow, mud, etc. Whatever I run into basically. Just really glad to finally have a scaler. I got all this stuff off of ebay for $250. It also came with a rc4wd chassis for a leaf spring set-up, red super soft leaf springs, Imex swamp dawgs, Proline hammers, (4) 4200 batteries (1) 5000 battery, charger and a bag full of parts. Oh yeah, and it was basically all new. Thank you ebay member xxredline_itxx Last edited by gunch; 11-06-2009 at 11:52 AM. Reason: added dimension |

No John, I didn't bend it, it is a high clearance steering link, can't you read? Thanks Kasper, I can't wait to get out on some trails and see how she does, looks promising though. I'll get some real pics up when I go out and get'er dirty. Good luck on your build! |

^Thanks, I got it one for a quick trail ride today and I must say I am pretty pleased with the way it turned out. I am heading to one of my favorite spots tomorrow to see how it crawls and handles some mild rocks. Will try and get some video and some action pics instead of these poser shots I got |

I plan to paint everything black, I just through this together one night and have been having so much fun driving it that I haven't wanted to take it apart yet. I didn't even know I was running the tires backward I thought thats what trucks do! |

So I had this old bronco body laying around. Found a cheap cgr body on ebay with a ton of accessories and blended them together. The cgr interior and cage actually fit very nicely without any modification. The only thing holding them together right now is the roof rack. I plan on molding them together better when I get my crawler back up and running. I also want to paint everything black, body, interior, chassis, etc. The interior right now is ugly as hell but whatever. Onto the pics: |

^Thanks, I really like the chevy truck but wanted something a little more rugged for the trails. That body was too clean and had to much street style for me and did not look right on the trails, especially next to my buddys tr in the photo.

Nice truck, i was digging the Chevy truck body too, i am pretty particular to those trucks tho. The bronco body looks great too. I have the same chassis i am building into a scale leaf sprung rug too, neat to see what one looks like Linked, i bet it works well.

It does do well, I have a short video of it crawling, but no scaler action. I have had it out on a few trails and hills and it is amazing in the sand. It out crawls my buddies TR with no problems.
