Default Rob's first scale build

I'm posting my first build for my two daughters, it is my rendition of the disturbed buggy by m&m offroad. I am making this from stainless rod, all tig welded. Be kind, it is still in the early stages of the build.

Nice work. Very clean welds, almost looks like you've done this before.

I haven't done anything this small before. I put this together 10 years ago (sandtrix built the frame, skins, and console) I put everything in it, and wired it. I was just learning to weld at the time, so I mostly did billet fab work on it.

I'm fabbing the skidplate/motor mount today, and plan on doing some more frame work next week, I'll post more pictures then.

I finished the motor mount/skidplate and lower links. I also fabbed a roof, still have to weld in mounts for it. currently working on upper links and mounts, before I fab the shock mounts and finish the front and rear cage work.

What is the best way to mount the motor in my set up, drive gear facing the front of the car or the rear of the car?

I have finished the rear of the car and started to skin it in aluminum. I will hopefully have more time comming up to finish the front shock mounting and get the steering designed and built. Here are a couple of new pictures. I'm quickly finding out that I don't have the sheet metal skills to pull off a scale fj hood, this is about as good as it gets for me.

Default Nice

The rig's coming together very clean. Nice work!

The hood on my wreckluse was a huge PITA. I eventually chiseled a shape in a scrap piece of wood and pressesd the aluminum hood between the wood block and the chisel in a vise to make cowl induction. It came out ok.

Stay on it, and good luck with those front shock mounts!

I just finished the side panels, and front shock mounts. Here are the new pictures. The tires are a little too big, and the front shocks are a bit to long.

Default Looking great

The rig is looking awesome. From a couple angles, the tires look just right. From othrs, too big. Maybe some 1.9 Baja Claws?

Is that a sleeve over the tie rod to help it slide over rocks instead of hanging?
